Short description of the position:
We are seeking a trainee to join the Institute for Regional Development, with a background in environmental or agricultural sciences, landscape planning, regional development, agricultural economics, public administration, onservation or environmental law. Experience in grazing systems, biodiversity conservation, funding schemes, and stakeholder engagement is desirable. The trainee should be able to support fieldwork, organize expert workshops, and
contribute to developing the project’s funding and implementation model. Good organizational, communication, and analytical skills, as well as proficiency in German and English, are important.
The duration of the internship is at least 6 months and up to 10 months (to be agreed upon with the candidate).

Tasks:
WeideWert project: Support the Regional Development team in the implementation of the Interreg IT-AT WeideWert project, which focuses on the development of a funding implementation and monitoring model to promote guided grazing and shepherding in the region. Tasks include, for example, the organisation of events, data collection, and the
preparation of reports and analyses for project deliverables.

Complementary tasks: In addition to the project above, the trainee may be involved in conferences and networking events, the writing of blog posts to communicate research findings to a broader audience,



and the preparation of contributions for scientific publications .

Requirements:
Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in environmental or agricultural sciences, landscape planning, regional development, agricultural economics, public administration, or environmental law.

Technical competencies: Professional command of the Microsoft Office Suite for everyday work.

Research skills: Experience with desk research, qualitative analysis, and extensive pasture grazing, shepherding or contractual nature conservation related topics.

Soft skills: Ability and motivation to work in international and multidisciplinary teams, combined with a curious and proactive mindset.

Language: Professional proficiency in English and German (C1 level) in writing, speaking, and listening.
