Job Description

Datalogic is seeking an experienced Global R&D; Director to lead the technology strategy and product development activities of its Mobile Business Unit, within Datalogic’s Data Capture Product Group. Reporting directly to the Business Unit General Manager, this role is responsible for translating business priorities into a clear technology roadmap and driving the successful execution of global product development programs through internal teams and ODM partners.

The successful candidate will own the full product development lifecycle, from concept definition to industrialization, market launch, and lifecycle support, ensuring delivery against quality, cost, performance, and time-to-market objectives. Leading a global R&D; organization across Italy, China, Vietnam, and the United States, this role requires strong technical and cross-cultural people leadership, expertise in complex connected hardware/software products, and proven experience managing ODM ecosystems and other external development partnerships.

Key responsibilities include defining and executing the technology roadmap, driving innovation and product architecture decisions, leading cross-functional collaboration with Product Marketing,



Sales, Operations, Quality, Sourcing, and Technical Support, developing high-performing engineering teams, and managing R&D; budgets, resources, and strategic technology partnerships.

The ideal candidate holds a Master's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline, with 10+ years of experience in R&D; leadership within international organizations. Expertise in mobile computing technologies, embedded Android platforms, wireless connectivity, cybersecurity, system engineering, and ODM management is essential, along with a strong business orientation and people leadership capabilities.

The role is based in Bologna, Italy.

Languages: business proficiency in English, Italian and other languages are a plus.

Compensation & Benefits

- Permanent Contract under CCNL Dirigenti
- Annual Base Salary (RAL): €90,000 – €120,000

The final compensation package will be determined based on the candidate’s experience, technical expertise, and overall fit for the role.
