Power Trader – Short-Term & Algo Trading

At Teora, we’re looking for a Senior Power Trader who wants to combine strategy, quantitative analysis and live trading while playing a direct role in growing the business. You’ll have room to develop your ideas, bring them to market and build the team that takes them further.

Who we are

Teora is a startup developing trading algorithms to increase the profitability of renewable assets in short-term electricity markets. We combine forecasting, optimisation and market expertise to maximise the value of solar, wind, hydro and battery storage portfolios.

Our algorithms are already operating in the market. Now we’re expanding our strategies, developing new trading capabilities and building the team to support our next stage of growth. Joining now means helping shape that journey.

What makes this role different

- From idea to market. You’ll work across the full strategy lifecycle: research, analysis, backtesting, implementation and performance review. Your expertise will directly influence how our algorithms trade.
- Direct collaboration with the founders. You’ll work daily with our CTO, combining your market knowledge with the modelling and optimisation expertise behind Teora.
- Autonomy and accountability. You’ll help shape our strategies, tools and processes, with shared objectives and measurable results.
- A team to build and lead. The role offers a path towards Head of Trading: as the business grows, you’ll help recruit, train and lead the traders working alongside you.

Your mission

- Develop strategies: identify opportunities in Italian short-term power markets,



translate them into models and validate them through backtesting and risk analysis.
- Manage trading: oversee day-ahead trading (MGP), intraday auctions and imbalance management, while helping develop our XBID activity.
- Improve our algorithms: work side by side with the CTO to develop tools, refine bidding logic and automate processes.
- Monitor performance and risk: analyse results and positions, identify anomalies and establish limits and controls that evolve with our portfolios.
- Build the desk: establish robust operational procedures and help recruit and train future team members.

Who we’re looking for

You’ve spent at least +2 years on a power trading desk and want to put your experience into a business you can help build. You’re excited by the opportunity to create something, take initiative and turn your insights into results.

We’re looking for someone who brings energy, enthusiasm and a positive, constructive attitude to the team. Someone who proposes new approaches, brings others along and tackles obstacles with a determination to find solutions. Motivation matters as much as expertise: we want to work with someone who feels personally invested in what we’re building and takes pride in helping it grow.

Specifically, you bring:

- Practical experience in Italian short-term power markets and a solid understanding of price and imbalance dynamics.




- Python skills for quantitative analysis, backtesting and trading tool development.
- The ability to turn data and market knowledge into trading decisions.
- A strong awareness of risk and a clear head when decisions need to be made quickly.
- Initiative in spotting opportunities and proposing improvements, with the determination to follow through.
- The ambition to build and lead a team, inspiring others and helping them grow alongside the business.
- A good command of English.

Experience with XBID, renewable portfolios and algorithmic trading strategies will be particularly valuable.
