ppThis Tempo pieno on site position offers great opportunities for career growth. /ph3Position Summary /h3pThe Assistant Director of Academic Services and Lecturer bears primary responsibility for the NYU Florence (NYUF) academic program, from course and lecturer planning to student learning. The full-time position oversees the academic administration of and teaches in the NYUF program. The position reports to the Academic Director of NYUF and, functionally, to the Associate Director and to the Assistant Vice President for Academics in the Office of Global Programs, and is a member of the NYUF senior leadership team. This role requires both teaching and administrative work, including supervising all aspects of the NYU Florence academic program, including teaching, research, and academic partnerships; teaching 2-3 courses per academic year; overseeing student advising; fostering collaboration between local faculty and staff to achieve University goals; developing and mentoring faculty; assisting in management of NYUF’s expanding research program; coordinating academic and co-curricular events; and collaborating closely with the Office of Student Life to ensure enhanced learning outcomes inside and beyond the classroom. The Assistant Director will coordinate across NYU Florence and New York staff and faculty to ensure the effective delivery of excellent academic programs consistent with NYU's leadership in global higher education. Program strengths include a first year away program; a wide-ranging undergraduate curriculum including Arts, Business, Humanities, Social Sciences, Professional programs, and Health; experiential learning and community-engagement opportunities; and research accreditation as an Italian research institution,
enabling NYU faculty to apply for EU grants through NYUF. The Assistant Director of Academic Services and Lecturer is expected to promote this commitment and related NYU initiatives (including Affordability, Sustainability, and Student Success) in the day-to-day life of NYU Florence. /ph3Qualifications /h3h3Current Required Education /h3ulliA Ph.D. or other terminal degree in a relevant field preferred by the date of appointment. /li /ulh3Current Required Experience /h3ulliAt least 3 years' progressively responsible experience in academic administration or a related area, or an equivalent combination. /liliMust include experience leading projects and managing office operations, budgets, and staff. /liliMust include a minimum three years of university-level teaching experience and demonstrated excellence in teaching. /li /ulh3Current Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities /h3ulliExcellent organizational, interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills. /liliProven cultural sensitivity and ability to communicate appropriately with a multinational, multicultural and multireligious population of students, academics and administrators. /liliAbility to interact with distinguished visitors, faculty,
and students. /liliUnderstand and empathize with the needs and expectations of international students. /liliProven ability to direct and implement a variety of operations and activities, to communicate policies and procedures to individuals at all levels and use problem solving and negotiating skills. /liliKnowledge of standard office software including Google Workspace. /liliExcellent written oral communication skills, with experience of addressing public audiences. /liliProficiency in English (written and oral) and Italian (written and oral). /liliEligible to legally work in Italy. /li /ulh3Current Preferred Experience /h3ulliExperience in an academic environment with prior experience mentoring faculty, as well as coordinating or overseeing administrative projects in a university setting. /liliExperience in teaching undergraduate and graduate students, preferably with a global emphasis. /liliPublications or other evidence of outstanding scholarship, creative work, or relevant professional activity. /liliExperience in U.S. and Italian higher education. /li /ulh3Additional Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities /h3ulliMust be well versed in quality data collection to ensure adequacy, accuracy and legitimacy of data in NYU systems and be able to strictly follow data privacy and security procedures for data handling and analysis to ensure adherence to legal and institutional standards. /li /ulh3Additional Information /h3pNYU aims to be among the greenest urban campuses in the country and carbon neutral by 2040.
