Join ORiS and help build the future of energy in space.
At ORiS, we are building the technologies that will power the next generation of space missions. Through laser-based wireless power transmission, we aim to overcome the energy limitations of today’s satellites and enable longer, more capable, and more resilient operations in orbit.
As a Senior Robotics Engineer specializing in Computer Vision and Tracking, you will own the technical development of perception and estimation solutions for ORiS systems that detect, identify, and track satellites, drones, and other targets in real time.
You will define robust solutions across computer vision, image processing, robotics, state estimation, and machine learning, and ensure that target information, line-of-sight estimates, confidence, and tracking status meet system-level pointing requirements for ORiS laser transmission platforms and LOONA.
You will report to the Software Team Leader and Software Architect, provide technical guidance to other engineers,
and collaborate with Control Systems, Embedded Software, Optical, Electronics, and Systems Engineering.
What You Will Do
- Own the architecture and technical roadmap for detection, estimation, tracking, and reacquisition.
- Lead algorithm design for difficult conditions including noise, changing illumination, partial visibility, low SNR, motion, and target loss.
- Define datasets, synthetic imagery, simulation scenarios, validation methods, and performance KPIs.
- Lead integration with optical sensors, pointing systems, control software, and embedded platforms.
- Drive real-time optimization on CPUs, GPUs, edge computers, and embedded targets.
- Lead calibration, laboratory testing, field trials, replay, simulation, and hardware-in-the-loop validation.
- Analyse system-level performance, resolve complex estimation and integration issues, and communicate technical trade-offs.
- Mentor engineers and maint
