Posizione

Coordinate multi-disciplinary engineering design activities for nuclear waste management systems, with focus on plants based on pressurized light water reactor technology.

Main responsibilities

- Ensure the execution and integration of conceptual and basic design activities for solid radioactive waste, liquid radioactive waste and gaseous effluent treatment systems.
- Coordinate the definition of system requirements, design bases, interfaces, operating philosophy, preliminary sizing criteria and system architecture.
- Support the development and review of process flow diagrams, P&IDs;, equipment lists, system descriptions, technical specifications and design reports.
- Ensure consistency between radiological source terms, contaminant management strategy,



process selection, nuclear safety requirements, operational constraints and maintainability needs.
- Coordinate interfaces with process, mechanical, I&C;, civil, radiation protection, safety analysis, layout, licensing and procurement disciplines.
- Contribute to technical evaluations of suppliers and technology providers for waste treatment, conditioning, storage and effluent management systems.
- Support the preparation of design documentation for licensing, safety cases, design reviews, client meetings and internal technical gates.
- Plan, monitor and report engineering progress, risks, open points and technical decisions, ensuring timely closure of actions across the involved disciplines.
- Coordinate working groups and technical meetings with internal teams, partners, suppliers and clients in a multicultural project environment.

Requisiti
- Master or equivalent Degree in Nuclear, Chemical, Mechanical, Environmental or Process Engineering or equivalent technical background.
- At least 20 years of professional experience in the nuclear sector, with significant exposure to radioactive waste management and nuclear plant system design.
- Excellent plant engineering knowledge for the management of liquid, gaseous and solid radioactive contaminants in nuclear facilities.




- Strong knowledge of the main processes for radioactive waste treatment, separation, filtration, decontamination, concentration, immobilisation, conditioning, storage and discharge control.
- Sound understanding of nuclear safety principles, ALARA approach, defense-in-depth, contamination control, radioactive effluent management and licensing expectations.
- Experience in conceptual and basic design phases, including design basis development, system integration, requirements management and interface coordination.
- Ability to coordinate multi-disciplinary engineering teams and manage technical decisions under schedule and quality constraints.
- Capability to prepare, review and consolidate technical documentation, specifications and design deliverables.
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment, with proactive attitude, personal drive and relationship orientation.
- Fluent in English language, spoken and written; willingness to travel.
