Job Summary:
The Field Service Engineer, Bio is responsible for providing technical and field service support for Nova Biomedical Bio customers and distributors in South Korea. The role covers pre-sales technical support and post-sales activities, including installation, training, IOQ, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and other technical services.
The position will serve as a key technical point of contact for customers and distributors, while working closely with the Sales team, distributors, and Global Technical Support to ensure high-quality service delivery, strengthen local service capabilities, and support the growth of the Bio business in South Korea.
Frequent domestic travel is required to support customers, distributors, demonstrations, installations, training, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities.
Responsibilities:
Customer & Field Service Support
- Provide timely technical support to customers and distributors by phone, email, and on-site visits, including installation, training, IOQ, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and other service activities.
- Provide technical support for customer demonstrations, evaluations, and other pre-sales activities in collaboration with the Sales team.
- Conduct customer visits and follow-up activities to ensure effective post-sales support, customer satisfaction, and instrument uptime.
- Proactively identify upcoming service requirements, including IOQ, preventive maintenance, and service contract renewals, and coordinate with customers and internal teams to ensure timely execution.
Distributor Service Management
- Develop and maintain strong technical relationships with distributors and support them in delivering high-quality service to customers.
- Lead distributor service training and support the qualification of distributor service personnel in accordance with Nova Biomedical requirements.
- Monitor distributor service activities, technical capabilities, service parts inventory, and warranty/claim processes.
- Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting support to distributors and escalate complex technical issues to Global Technical Support when required.
Service Operations & Technical Management
- Maintain accurate installed base and customer/instrument information and ensure timely updates of service records.
- Manage local demos, service spare-parts safety stock and essential service tools to ensure effective field service operations.
- Develop and maintain local technical service materials,
including FAQs, troubleshooting guides, and other resources to support customers and distributors.
- Maintain strong product knowledge and competitive awareness to provide effective technical solutions and support customer needs.
- Complete and maintain accurate service documentation, including service reports, installation records, PM records, IOQ documentation, and other required service records.
- Ensure all service activities are performed in accordance with company procedures, quality requirements, safety standards, and applicable regulations.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Sales and Field application team on technical customer engagement, demonstrations, evaluations, and post-sales activities.
- Collaborate with Global Technical Support and other internal teams to resolve technical issues and communicate product or service-related feedback from the Korean market.
- Support service initiatives and campaigns designed to improve customer satisfaction, service quality, and business performance.
Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or above in Engineering, Biopharma, Life Sciences, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant field service experience in life science equipment, medical devices, laboratory instruments or a related industry. Experience with high-value analytical or Bio laboratory instruments is preferred.
- Hands-on experience with troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, software, or instrumentation-related issues.
- Experience providing technical training to customers, distributors, or internal teams is preferred.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Solution-oriented mindset with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
- Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a cross-functional team.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English with global technical support teams.
- Experience with CRM or ERP systems is preferred; Salesforce experience is a plus
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent domestic travel throughout South Korea is required (50% or more).
- Ability to work at customer sites, including laboratories, biopharmaceutical facilities, and other life science environments.
- Ability to use standard office equipment and business software.
- Ability to handle and transport service equipment, instruments, and tools as required for field service activities.
