Job summary

the industrial program specialist supervises workforce participants and community‑based work crews at arizona correctional industries (aci) sites, ensuring safety, security and efficient production in a manufacturing environment.

Job duties

- supervise workforce participants and community work crews at aci sites.
- maintain safety and security of participants through site, vehicle, pat‑down and strip searches.
- conduct continuous observations, accountability headcounts and performance evaluations.
- oversee production activities and workforce conduct in manufacturing centers.
- coordinate with regional operations and workforce development managers to align schedules and operational needs.
- review work output, provide coaching and administer discipline when necessary.
- ensure timely completion and submission of incident, performance and operational reports.
- assist participants in obtaining industry‑recognized credentials and apprenticeship programs.
- monitor contractors for compliance with aci contract obligations.
- partner with aci training and education manager to help participants secure post‑release employment.




- operate state vehicles to transport participants and attend to worksite needs.

Knowledge, skills, abilities (ksas)

- knowledge of federal, state and agency laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
- principles and practices of inmate management and supervision.
- problem‑solving, conflict‑resolution and decision‑making techniques.
- inventory control and search techniques.
- strong written and verbal communication.
- leadership and supervision abilities.
- physical ability to lift, carry, push, pull and walk/run as required.

Selective preference

- commercial driver’s license (cdl) with passenger endorsement.
- minimum two years of experience as a correctional officer or in correctional services.

Pre‑employment requirements

- pass a background investigation and drug test.
- obtain a valid cdl with passenger endorsement within 90 days if required.
- complete required driver‑license record checks and training.
- pass a tuberculosis (tb) test during orientation and annually thereafter.
