The Team:

The Public Health – Improvement (Strategy and Policy) team within Population Health is responsible for leading and supporting the delivery of major whole-of-government commitments in preventive and population health. This includes Tasmania’s state 20-year preventive health strategy, state tobacco action plan, and relevant actions under the Long-Term Plan for Healthcare in Tasmania 2040.

The Role:

The role leads discrete projects and streams of work across the team’s statewide population health program, with a particular focus on tobacco, vaping and nicotine. The role will be responsible for planning, coordination, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of allocated population health projects and initiatives, working across policy and strategic planning, project and program delivery, stakeholder engagement, evidence and analysis, and advice to government.

You will need:

- Strong project management skills, including the ability to coordinate and deliver complex projects within agreed priorities, timelines and governance arrangements.
- Policy and strategic planning skills, including the ability to contribute to the development and implementation of policy, legislation, strategies and plans.
- Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to interpret evidence, navigate stakeholder interests and prepare clear, fit-for-purpose advice.

Details of appointment:

Fixed term tempo pieno, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until 8 June 2028. *Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary:

$111,754 to $126,579 per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

- Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2025.
