We are seeking a Hardware System Engineer to support the development of complex electronic systems within the Defence sector. The role is responsible for ensuring the full hardware system engineering flow , with a focus on requirements definition, subsystem architecture, interface specification and the development of the Technical Data Package for assigned projects.

The position operates within a highly technical, multidisciplinary environment and requires close collaboration with internal engineering teams, specialist departments and external partners at national and international level.

What You’ll Do (and why it’s exciting)

- Ensuring and maintaining the hardware system engineering workflow , specifically for hardware specification activities.
- Acting as the Accountable Owner for the development of the Technical Data Package related to hardware development within the assigned project.
- Performing system requirements analysis , developing hardware subsystem requirements and architectures, and allocating requirements to hardware units.
- Defining interface requirements between hardware subsystems and hardware units.
- Developing detailed hardware unit requirements for specialist hardware engineering teams.
- Participating in design teams , promoting a concurrent engineering approach throughout the project lifecycle.
- Coordinating external resources (research institutes, universities, specialized companies both in Italy and abroad),



defining the scope of supply and ensuring technical and schedule compliance.
- Maintaining up‑to‑date technological knowledge aligned with state‑of‑the‑art industry standards.
- Monitoring hardware engineering process indicators related to hardware specification activities.
- Using requirements management tools and model‑based system engineering (MBSE) methodologies.

Who We’re Looking For

- Master’s degree in Engineering (Electronics, Telecommunications or similar).
- 4+ years of experience working with complex systems (automotive, avionics, railway also welcome).
- Strong Italian and English skills.
- Curiosity, drive, and a genuine desire to learn.

Core Skills

- Specific experience in analog and digital electronics development , and in the design of complex hardware systems, preferably within the Defence sector .
- Solid background in system engineering .
- Knowledge of MIL standards for military equipment design, industrial best‑practice standards and IEC regulations .
- Understanding of technologies and processes associated with hardware development, aligned with design‑to‑cost , time‑to‑market and industrialization objectives.
- Ability to manage and investigate activities requiring cross‑disciplinary knowledge .
- Strong predisposition for hardware development project management , including detailed planning.
- knowledge of requirements capture tools and architectural definition methodologies. Strong team working , communication and problem‑solving skills.

Nice‑to‑Have Skills

- Experience with international defence standards.
- Familiarity with MBSE tools (SysML, Cameo, Capella).
