Offer Description This research aims to identify new sustainable methods to control agricultural insect pests, including Philaenus spumarius, Neophilaenus campestris, Drosophila suzukii, and Scaphoideus titanus. Specifically, laboratory studies will investigate spittlebug behavioral responses to various chemical and/or physical stimuli to develop novel monitoring and control systems. Additionally, laboratory bioassays on Drosophila suzukii will evaluate the efficacy of sustainable management tools, such as essential oils. Field studies will analyze population dynamics to optimize control strategies against Scaphoideus titanus.
Requirements Additional Information Eligibility criteria




Master's Degree in Biotecnologie per la Gestione Ambientale e l'Agricoltura sostenibile Classe LM-7 or an equivalent qualification obtained abroad within the last 6 years;
suitable cv. to the planned research activity;
aptitude for the study of insects and keen powers of observation and to identify most insects of agricultural importance to species, genus, and family level using dichotomous identification keys, basic knowledge of molecular biology techniques for DNA analysis. experience in maintaining insect colonies under controlled laboratory conditions and in preparing artificial diets for insect rearing. Familiarity with monitoring and sampling protocols (e.g. pheromone traps, coloured sticky traps, sweep netting, etc.) in agricultural settings; experience in data collection and the preparation of technical reports; strong aptitude for teamwork and the ability to collaborate effectively with professionals from different disciplines and with diverse areas of expertise.
