Position Overview

Gunster seeks an experienced trusts and estates attorney at the senior associate or junior shareholder level to join its Private Wealth Services practice in Naples. The successful candidate will advise ultra-high-net-worth families, business owners, executives, fiduciaries, beneficiaries, and family offices on sophisticated estate planning, trust and estate administration, and related contested matters. This role offers meaningful responsibility, direct client contact, and the opportunity to develop a long-term practice within a collaborative, full-service law firm.

Key Responsibilities

- Advise clients on sophisticated estate, gift, generation-skipping transfer, and related tax-planning strategies
- Draft and implement wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives, and other wealth-transfer and succession-planning documents
- Counsel personal representatives, trustees, beneficiaries, and family offices through probate, trust administration, fiduciary decision-making, and post-mortem planning
- Analyze complex trust and estate issues affecting multiple generations, closely held businesses, and significant family wealth
- Help evaluate and resolve fiduciary and beneficiary disputes, including contested probate and trust matters, through negotiation, pre-suit strategy, mediation, and coordination with litigation counsel
- Manage matters efficiently, communicate practical recommendations clearly, and build trusted relationships with clients and their other professional advisers




- Supervise and mentor junior attorneys and other team members, as appropriate
- Contribute to client development, professional organizations, thought leadership, and continuing legal education initiatives

Qualifications

- Active membership in good standing with The Florida Bar
- Approximately 6–12 years of relevant trusts and estates experience; candidates with comparable depth of experience will also be considered
- Substantial experience in sophisticated estate planning and probate or trust administration
- Experience with fiduciary litigation or disputed trust and estate matters is strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of federal transfer-tax principles and Florida probate and trust law
- Excellent drafting, analytical, project-management, and client-communication skills
- Sound judgment, attention to detail, responsiveness, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- For junior shareholder candidates, a demonstrated ability to cultivate client relationships and contribute to business development is preferred.

The ideal candidate combines technical excellence with a practical, client-centered approach. The attorney should be comfortable handling planning,



administration, and disputed matters; translating complex legal and tax concepts into clear advice; and serving as a trusted counselor to families and fiduciaries. An interest in active participation in Florida trusts and estates organizations and in building a visible professional profile is valued.
