About the role

We are looking for a Maintenance Manager to ensure the availability, reliability and safe operation of production equipment, utilities and plant infrastructure. Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will lead a team of approximately six maintenance technicians and coordinate external service providers.

A central part of the role is to build a structured maintenance system that supports serial production. You will develop the asset register, define maintenance strategies, establish consistent use of the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS), improve spare parts management and monitor performance through clear indicators. You will also strengthen the team’s technical capabilities, particularly in automation and controls.

Key Responsibilities

- Establish a single CMMS work order process for recording, prioritising, scheduling, completing and verifying maintenance requests. Ensure each work order clearly defines the tasks, required parts, expected duration, acceptance criteria and responsibilities.
- Review and resolve the backlog of open or unverified work orders, regularly aligning priorities and resources with Production.
- Build and maintain an asset register containing technical data, documentation, spare parts lists and maintenance history. Assess equipment criticality and define an appropriate maintenance strategy for each asset.
- Develop preventive maintenance plans based on operating hours, cycle counts and manufacturer requirements. Create detailed, practical checklists and establish reliable tracking of machine counters.
- Use existing machine alarms and condition monitoring functions, assessing additional techniques such as vibration analysis,



thermography or oil analysis where justified.
- Lead root cause analysis of recurring or high-impact failures, verify corrective actions and update maintenance plans. Develop business cases for lasting solutions to chronic problems.
- Work with Industrialisation, Quality and R&D; to resolve equipment failures affecting products or processes. Manage equipment modifications through formal change control, preserving CE conformity, machine certification and qualified process settings.
- Define critical spare parts, stock levels, reorder points and lead times. Manage the budget for parts and services and evaluate repair-versus-replacement decisions.
- Maintain technical documentation, including manuals, drawings, equipment settings, PLC programme backups, maintenance instructions and modification records, in line with ISO 9001 requirements.
- Develop the team’s expertise in automation and controls, including the management of software licences, backups and access, and arrange specialist support when needed.
- Define responsibilities and required competencies for each technician, organise shift and on-call coverage, set objectives and provide regular feedback.
- Ensure that internal activities and external contractors meet health, safety, environmental and quality requirements, including work permits, lockout/tagout procedures, mandatory inspections and calibrations.
- Monitor equipment availability, MTBF, MTTR, planned versus reactive maintenance, preventive maintenance completion, backlog and maintenance costs, using these indicators to drive improvement.

Qualifications & Experience

- A degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronic, Automation or Industrial Engineering.
- 7–10 years of experience in industrial maintenance, including at least 3–5 years in a maintenance management role.
- Demonstrated experience building or restructuring a maintenance system, including an asset register, preventive maintenance programme, CMMS processes, spare parts management and KPI reporting.




- Solid experience with automated production lines, PLC-controlled equipment, drives and sensors. Experience with furnaces or high-temperature process equipment is strongly preferred.

- Practical knowledge of TPM, reliability-centred maintenance, FMEA, criticality assessment and root cause analysis.
- Experience using a CMMS or EAM system to plan, manage and measure maintenance activities.
- Experience leading technical teams, coordinating external service providers and managing maintenance and spare parts budgets.
- Fluency in Italian and English, both spoken and written.

You are systematic and practical, and can establish clear processes where documentation or standards are still developing. You use data, costs and risk to guide decisions, work confidently with equipment manufacturers and service providers, and maintain a regular presence on the production floor.

You can address immediate production needs while building a more reliable maintenance system for the long term.

The role requires on-call availability for critical production interruptions according to an agreed rota, as well as occasional travel to equipment manufacturers and other Group sites.

Working Conditions

Full-time, permanent position based in Cirè – Pergine Valsugana (Trento), Italy.

Salary range: € 55.000 – € 65.000 gross annual salary (RAL), depending on the candidate's qualifications, experience and skills.
