Offer Description

This doctoral network develops next-generation radiotherapy strategies for glioblastoma (GBM) by integrating: FLASH radiotherapy, Minibeam radiation, Targeted alpha therapy (TAT), Radio-immunotherapy. Doctoral candidates will work in a multidisciplinary environment spanning chemistry, physics, biology, immunology, engineering and clinical translation.

Key research themes include:

- Fighting radioresistance, infiltration and immunosoppression
- Enhancing the efficacy of innovative RT through immunotherapy
- Optimising the use of innovative RT for brain tumours

Doctoral Candidates will vantaggi from a rich, multidisciplinary training environment, with opportunities to collaborate with industrial partners, contributing to cutting-edge research with real-world applications.

Selected candidates will engage in multidisciplinary research, participate in international secondments across academic and industrial settings, and contribute to high-impact publications and conferences.

PhD Project 11: Computational analysis of integrated multi-omics data

Host: Chemistry Department, University of Florence, Florence, Italy

PhD School: Structural Biology at University of Florence

Project focus:



Development of computational pipelines to integrate multi-omics datasets and identify biomarkers of radiotherapy response.

A 5-year degree (Master's degree) in Physics, Biophysics, Chemistry, Bioinformatics, Biotechnology, Data Science, Machine Learning, or related disciplines (or, if the degree has not yet been obtained, it must be completed before the expected start date of Febryary 1st, 2027).

Strong programming skills, especially related to the data analysis of -omics experiments.

A CV suitable for carrying out the PhD research program.

Very good oral and written proficiency in English.

Interest in working in a multidisciplinary and international research environment, with a team oriented and proactive attitude.

Willingness to undertake international travel for training and research activities within the consortium (approximately 7 months secondments abroad).

Languages ENGLISH Level Good

Additional Information

A salary in line with the guidelines of the MSCA-DN Programme including the monthly Living allowance (3821,53 EUR), the monthly Mobility allowance (710 EUR) and, if applicable, the monthly Family allowance (660,00 EUR) and the monthly Special needs allowance (the exact amount may vary depending on specific circumstances). These are gross amounts including compulsory deductions under national law, such as employer and employee social security contributions and direct taxes or the fixed-amount fellowship.



The Researcher will be paid the amounts indicated minus the compulsory deductions under national legislation.

Eligibility criteria

Specific Eligibility Criteria of MSCA-DN Programme

The doctoral candidate must not yet been awarded a doctoral degree at the date of the recruitment.

The doctoral candidate must have not resided or carried out main activity (work, studies, etc.) in the country of the host beneficiary (Italy in this case) for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the recruitment date.

ASSESSMENT CRITERIA

A committee, including the PhD supervisor, will pre-select candidates based on the information provided in the application. The applications will be evaluated according to the following criteria:

Educational record;

Scientific quality of the applicant's CV;

Expected individual impact and benefits to both the fellow and the project;

Previous experience related to the subject of the PhD research program (i.e. data analysis, multivariate statistics, data integration, -omics sciences).

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for online interviews. A good level of English proficiency (understanding, speaking, and writing) will be taken into account. The candidates will be notified of the outcome.
