MODALITA' DI CANDIDATURA: saranno accettate solo le candidature ricevute tramite il nostro sito web www.niulinx.ai/it/careers
The context
Niulinx is a deeptech spin-off of Politecnico di Milano building L4 autonomous driving systems for the next generation of European mobility. We're developing autonomous mobility services with a regulatory-first approach, partnering with local operators through a franchise model to bring safe, scalable mobility solutions to cities across Europe. We are going from 0 to 1 on organisation, and we plan to reach around 100 engineers by the end of 2026.
Key responsibilities
- Own the communication layer between vehicle and operator: control channel, telemetry, and a low-latency video pipeline that survives bad networks (jitter, packet loss, bandwidth swings, handover).
- Build the operator station client: multi-display real-time 3D and video rendering with overlays, designed for clarity under pressure.
- Own dispatch logic that matches intervention requests to available operators in real time, backed by an event streaming backbone, with attention to reliability (backpressure, retries, idempotency, observability).
- Build the fleet operations dashboard (vehicles, operators, interventions, health) and own OTA end to end: packaging, signing, staged rollout, and rollback.
Indicative profile
- BSc/MSc in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience. A strong academic record is a plus.
- Mid-level is the sweet spot; strong seniors are welcome.
- We look for engineers who design before they build.
- Fluent English.
Must have technical skills
The candidate should have at least one of the following skills:
- Strong modern C++; Protobuf and ROS2 integration.
- Cloud deployment, OTA/fleet update systems, telemetry aggregation.
- Event-driven architecture and messaging/streaming (e.g. Kafka), distributed-systems fundamentals (queuing, prioritisation, consistency, failure handling).
- Networking fundamentals: TCP/UDP, RTP/RTCP, GRPC.
- Video: H.264/H.265, hardware encode/decode, and a low-latency delivery path (WebRTC or a custom pipeline).
- Real-time graphics and UI: Qt 6/QML, scene rendering.
Nice to have technical skills
- QUIC transport and the AV1 codec are a plus.
- Networking: congestion/flow control, NAT traversal, 4G/5G behaviour under load.
- OpenGL/Vulkan, video compositing, and multi-display application design.
- Experience with real-time or safety-critical systems is a plus.
Subcareers
- Teleoperation Link & Video — low-latency communication link, telemetry, and video pipeline between vehicle and operator.
- Operator Cockpit (HMI) — multi-display operator station with real-time 3D/video rendering, overlays, and controls.
- Fleet Orchestration & OTA — dispatch and intervention routing, fleet-wide operations dashboard, and over-the-air updates.
We want people who
- Use data and evidence before forming an opinion;
- Can distinguish correlation from causation;
- Can say “I don’t know — let me check”;
- Move well in complex, evolving contexts;
- Understand the dynamics between people, teams and organisations;
- Have interests and curiosity that extend beyond their studies or work.
