The University of Bologna, Department of Sociology and Business Law, is hiring 4 postdoc positions in the 5-year research project “Using Liberal Tools for Illiberal Missions (ULTIM)”.
The postdoc positions are for 2 years, with the possibility of a 2-year extension.
• Postdoc 1 focuses on legal mobilization in relation to the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR). Duties consist in a literature review, the analysis of case-law, and of the execution of ECtHR judgments. The postdoc executes a (socio-)legal discourse analysis of judgments, third-party interventions, dissenting opinions, and related statements and documents issued by conservative CSOs (CCSOs).
• Postdoc 2 focuses on legal mobilization in relation to the CJEU. Duties consist in a literature review, the analysis of case-law, and the analysis of Advocate General opinions as well as compliance to relevant CJEU judgments. The postdoc executes a (socio-)legal discourse analysis of case-law, third-party interventions or other forms of third-party engagement, and related statements and documents issued by CCSOs.
• Postdoc 3 focuses on the political-sociological analysis of relations and affinities between CCSOs and political actors, particularly in relation to the European Parliament. The postdoc engages in a literature review on intra-parliamentary relations, EP party groups, Bourdieusian fields, network analysis, epistemic communities, and prosopographies of collective actors. The postdoc engages in mapping the composition of committees and intergroups, identifying relevant chairs and rapporteurs, and engage in fieldwork and interviews, reconstructing connections between CCSOs and political actors.
• Postdoc 4 focuses on the political-sociological analysis of the political mobilization of European CCSOs. The postdoc will have relevant competences in civil society analysis, social movements studies, and network analysis, and engages in a literature review on forms of public claims-making, advocacy, and lobb
