Software ArchitectOverviewAs a Software Architect at RGI, you will contribute to the design, development and evolution of our insurance platforms while remaining closely involved in hands-on delivery.

You will work with Product Owners, Delivery Managers and senior technical colleagues to translate requirements into robust solutions, resolve complex technical issues and support the gradual evolution of the application architecture.

This opportunity is particularly suited to an experienced Java developer who is ready to take a broader role in technical design and architecture, rather than someone who has already moved away from hands-on development.

Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop and prototype Java / JavaEE solutions across the application stackAnalyse functional requirements and translate them into practical technical designsInvestigate and resolve complex application, integration and performance issuesContribute to technical choices, integration patterns and the progressive evolution of the platform architectureSupport development teams through code reviews, troubleshooting and the definition of engineering best practicesWork with containerised environments, CI/CD pipelines and observability tooling throughout the delivery lifecycleCollaborate with Product, Delivery and IT teams to support secure, reliable and maintainable releasesProfessional Experience4+ years of hands-on experience in Java / JavaEE software developmentStrong experience delivering and supporting complex enterprise applicationsExposure to technical design, solution definition or mentoring other developers; previous formal architect experience is not requiredExperience in structured environments or service companies; knowledge of insurance or banking is an advantageTechnical ExpertiseStrong hands-on knowledge of Java / JavaEE, including development and complex problem determinationPractical experience with Maven and modern Java build and dependency-management practicesExperience with REST APIs,



web services and application integrationsWorking knowledge of frontend development, particularly AngularPractical experience with Docker, Docker Compose and containerised application environmentsWorking knowledge of Kubernetes and Helm chartsExperience with CI/CD pipelines, ideally Jenkins and/or GitLab CIUnderstanding of observability systems and how applications feed them, including OpenTelemetry or comparable standardsGood knowledge of SQL databases and the ability to investigate query or application performance issuesFamiliarity with Git and collaborative development workflowsExposure to application servers, middleware, messaging systems or caching technologies is welcomeKnowledge of public cloud platforms, Kafka, NoSQL databases or security-by-design principles is useful but not essentialA broad technical curiosity and willingness to learn new tools and technologies quicklyItalian language is required for day-to-day collaboration.
