About the Company
Spaceflux keeps watch over space. We operate a growing global network of optical sensors that track satellites and debris in orbit, giving governments, defence and commercial customers the space-domain-awareness data they need to operate safely. Our telescopes run every clear night, from Chile to Australia to Europe – and we’re scaling fast, toward 25+ sites and new sensor types, as we grow through our next funding stage.
We’re a small, hands-on, fast-moving team where the work you do is physically real – systems you build and install end up watching the sky on the other side of the world.
About the Role
We’re looking for a Field & Installation Engineer to help us build and maintain the physical backbone of our network. You’ll install, commission, maintain and repair the sensors that make up the network – in the field around the world, and (as we set up an in-region workshop) on the bench at home.
You’ll work alongside our Sensor Development Lead, taking on real ownership of installations and hardware so the network can grow without resting on one person.
It’s a varied, practical, problem-solving role for someone who’s genuinely good with their hands and enjoys making real systems work in real conditions.
You don’t need to have installed a telescope before – almost nobody has. You need to be a capable, practical engineer who’s confident with mechanisms, tools and basic electrics, happy to travel, and keen to learn. We’ll teach you the rest.
What you’ll do
• Install and commission sensors worldwide – telescopes, mounts, domes and roll-off roofs – including the site, power and connectivity interfaces.
• Get systems working on site in real-world conditions: different power systems, customs, imperfect infrastructure, the occasional improvisation.
• Maintain, refurbish and repair the deployed estate, and provide second-line hardware support to our operations team.
• Help set up and run an in-region workshop, pre-building and testing systems so deploy
