Offer Description
The proposed research line is aimed at formulating quantum transport models for the simulation of nanoscale electronic devices, improving the standard effective-mass approximation by incorporating non-parabolicity effects directly into the Schrödinger equation. The primary objective is to simulate quantum devices such as the resonant tunneling diode.
This requires a careful analysis of spectral properties and the development of WKB-type numerical schemes that include an accurate discretization of open boundary conditions.
Optimization methods will be applied to the transport models described above in order to design potentials that drive charge carriers toward a target dynamics. Further developments will include comparison with simulations based on the Wigner equation and the formulation of hydrodynamic models with quantum corrections derived from the maximum entropy method
