At our core, we are Advanced Energy – powering the future, together. /p h3POSITION SUMMARY /h3 pThe NPI Purchasing and Localization Manager is responsible for leading sourcing, procurement, supplier development, and localization initiatives to support New Product Introduction (NPI) programs. This role ensures material readiness, cost competitiveness, supply continuity, and successful supplier qualification from product development through mass production. The position works closely with Engineering, Program Management, Quality, Manufacturing, Commodity Management, and suppliers to mitigate risks, accelerate localization, and achieve business objectives. /p pThis position will report to bSenior Purchasing Manager /b /p h3Key Responsibilities /h3 ol libNPI Procurement Management /b /li /ol ul liLead sourcing and procurement activities for all NPI projects. /li liDevelop procurement strategies to support prototype, pilot, and production builds. /li liEnsure timely material availability to meet project milestones and customer commitments. /li liManage RFQs, supplier selection, commercial negotiations, and PO placement activities. /li liMonitor project schedules and proactively address material constraints. /li /ul ol libLocalization Strategy and Execution /b /li /ol ul liDevelop and implement localization strategies to reduce supply chain risk and improve responsiveness. /li liIdentify, evaluate, and onboard local and regional suppliers for key commodities. /li liDrive China+1, regionalization, and dual-sourcing initiatives.
/li liCoordinate supplier qualification activities with SQE, Engineering, and Operations teams. /li liEstablish localization roadmaps with measurable targets and timelines. /li /ul ol libSupplier Development and Management /b /li /ol ul liBuild strategic relationships with suppliers and key stakeholders. /li liSupport supplier audits, risk assessments, and business continuity planning. /li /ul ol libRisk Management and Supply Assurance /b /li /ol ul liIdentify supply chain risks including single-source dependencies, capacity limitations, qualification delays, and geopolitical risks. /li liDevelop mitigation and recovery plans for critical shortages and delivery risks. /li liEstablish alternate sourcing strategies for high-risk commodities. /li liLead escalation management for critical supply issues affecting customer deliveries. /li /ul ol libCross-Functional Leadership /b /li /ol ul liPartner closely with Engineering, Program Management, Manufacturing, Planning, Quality, and Commodity Management teams. /li liParticipate in design reviews and BOM readiness evaluations. /li liEnsure sourcing decisions support manufacturability, cost targets, and supply continuity. /li liLead material readiness reviews for key customer programs. /li /ul ol libCost Management and Negotiation /b /li /ol ul liNegotiate pricing, payment terms, lead times, and supply agreements. /li liDrive cost reduction, value engineering, and productivity initiatives. /li liSupport annual budgeting and cost forecasting activities. /li liAnalyze market trends and commodity impacts on material costs. /li /ul ol libProject and Program Management /b /li /ol ul liTrack NPI procurement activities against project milestones. /li liSupport prototype, EVT, DVT, PVT, pilot, and production builds.Ensure successful transition from NPI to mass production. /li liProvide regular executive-level updates on sourcing status, risks, and mitigation plans. /li /ul h38. Team Leadership /h3 ul liLead and develop NPI Buyers, Purchasing Engineers, and Localization Specialists. /li liEstablish clear goals, KPIs, and development plans for team members. /li liPromote collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. /li liSupport talent development and succession planning initiatives. /li /ul h3QUALIFICATIONS /h3 h3Education /h3 ul liBachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field /li /ul h3Experience /h3 ul li8+ years of experience in Purchasing, Strategic Sourcing, Supply Chain, or Procurement. /li li3+ years in NPI, Project Procurement, or Localization leadership roles. /li liExperience in Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS), Semiconductor,
Automotive, Medical, or High-Tech Manufacturing environments. /li liProven experience in supplier qualification, localization, and new product introductions. /li liTechnical Knowledge /li liStrong understanding of NPI phase gates and product development processes. /li liKnowledge of ERP/MRP systems such as Oracle/SAP /li liUnderstanding of supplier quality systems and qualification requirements. /li liExperience with cost analysis, contract negotiation, and supplier auditsb. /b /li liBachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field. /li liMinimum of 7+ years of relevant experience leading a small team. /li /ul ul liStrong knowledge of procurement, strategic sourcing, and supplier management principles. /li liUnderstanding of supply chain management, inventory planning, and risk mitigation. /li liKnowledge of ERP systems, including Oracle and iPro. /li liFamiliarity with commodity management, contract negotiations, and cost management. /li liUnderstanding of customer relationship management and business operations. /li liThis is a full-time, onsite position reporting to the Sta.
