CONTRACT: FREELANCE DURATION: PROJECT-BASED About Futu Rats: We are a game development studio based in Turin. Already known for our work alongside Slitherine on the Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector franchise, we are currently expanding our team to tackle an exciting new lineup of projects. We are looking for a highly autonomous and creative Freelance Game Designer to support our team remotely during critical development phases. WORK ENVIRONMENT & RESPONSIBILITIES As a Freelance Game Designer, you will collaborate seamlessly with our core team. Your day-to-day will involve: System Design & Balancing: Designing game systems, economies, and mechanics, ensuring a highly engaging player experience.
Engine Implementation: Working directly inside the engine (Unity/Unreal) to implement and iterate on mechanics using visual scripting or configuration tools.
Documentation: Creating and updating clear, structured Game Design Documents (GDDs) to keep the remote and local teams perfectly aligned.
Remote Collaboration: Participating in sync meetings,



communicating proactively, and delivering tasks reliably within agreed deadlines.
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Experience:
3+ years of professional experience as a Game Designer, with a portfolio showcasing shipped titles or significant project contributions.
Core Skills: Strong analytical mindset, solid understanding of game balancing, and experience in system design.
Engines: Proven hands-on experience with Unity or Unreal Engine (comfort in navigating the editor is essential).
Autonomy: Highly self-motivated, proactive, and capable of managing your own time effectively in a remote environment.
Timezone: Availability to work with significant overlap with Central European Time (CET/CEST) for seamless communication with our team in Italy.
Language: Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
