JOB TITLE: WFP Volunteer

TYPE OF CONTRACT: Voluntary Assignment

UNIT/DIVISION: PRG-FG

DUTY STATION (City, Country): Rome, Italy

DURATION: 2 months

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:

The Geospatial and Intelligence Unit (PRG-FG)



continuously collects and analyzes geospatial data using innovative technologies and tools to ensure that WFP has access to accurate, timely, and actionable geospatial information to support operational decision-making and implementation.

The Volunteer will contribute to geospatial analyses related to emergency preparedness activities and will report to the Emergency Geospatial Services Coordinator.

ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Review and complement the Natural Hazard Risk Analysis framework for EmergencyPreparedness, relative methodologies and outputs
- Establish a list of data sources used for the analysis and make them ready to use in cloudenvironments
- Design and implement an automated workflow for producing the analysis for priority countries,allowing to make it scalable and reproducible to other countries.

DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT:

- Script for automated procedure to perform the analysis
- Maps and packages ready to be used by Country Offices

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Education: University Degree Environmental Sciences, Geography or related fields;

Experience:

- From 0-3 years of experience in the field of Geographic Information Systems
- Knowledge & Skills:
- Good working knowledge of the whole ESRI ArcGIS or QGIS suite. Other open source software is an asset;
- Coding skills with Python of Java an asset;
- Proven ability to work with various sources of data formats (either spatial data or non) to produce data visualization.

Languages: Fluency in English in required (level C).
