Position
This role is offered on an Italian employment contract. Candidates must be based in Italy as we are unable to support remote working from outside the country due to local employment and tax legislation.
Position
This role reports to the SVP, Engineering Delivery. As Delivery Director for the Vesper Build and Run pillar, you will own delivery excellence across a portfolio of business-critical client programs delivered on and around the Vesper streaming platform. You'll be the key delivery contact point for clients, lead technical and project governance teams globally, own senior stakeholder relationships, and take end-to-end oversight of programs from onboarding and build through to launch and run.
Work here is delivered on a shared platform. You will balance the needs of individual clients - launches, migrations, customizations, and live events - against a common Vesper product roadmap, working in lockstep with Product and Engineering so that client commitments and product development stay aligned.
Responsibilities
Program and portfolio delivery leadership
- Program-manage large, strategically important initiatives across the Vesper pillar, including client onboarding, platform migrations, new launches, and feature programs
- Ensure delivery excellence across all accounts in your portfolio, overseeing consistency, quality, and adherence to SLAs
- Own and analyze delivery health, including project budget and workforce costs/gross margin (GM), controlling scope and progress to deliver on time, within scope, and within budget
- Structure projects to respond to changing demands at pace, including the fixed dates set by sports calendars, season starts, and major live events
- Sign off on team plans and confirm that delivery schedules can realistically be met, holding regular Build review meetings to monitor progress and support any deviation from plan
- Provide visibility on capacity, resource planning, and prioritization across accounts as the Vesper team scales
- Manage cross-program dependencies, particularly where multiple clients rely on the same platform capabilities, environments, or releases
Platform alignment and product partnership
- Act as the delivery voice in Vesper roadmap and release planning, ensuring client commitments are visible, sequenced, and realistic against platform capacity
- Partner with Product and Engineering to distinguish core platform capability from client-specific work, and challenge scope that erodes platform consistency
- Ensure release readiness, environment planning, and go-live criteria are agreed and met for each client launch or migration
- Feed delivery learnings, recurring client requests, and technical debt signals back into product and engineering leadership
Governance, reporting, and communication
- Keep internal senior stakeholders updated on progress and consulted on key decisions, including the SVP, Engineering Delivery on all significant risks, particularly those affecting GM
- Ensure project governance enables clear communication and knowledge sharing despite the complexity and scale of the programs, using internal tools for knowledge sharing, document retention,
and governance
- Build credibility and maintain clear, consistent communication with stakeholders at multiple levels, including tech, product, design, and insights
- Provide regular reporting on progress across your portfolio, highlighting key milestones and risks
- Ensure project teams follow PM best practices and reporting standards, and that project goals stay aligned with company strategy and the Vesper platform strategy
Escalation, risk, and incident management
- Act as the escalation point for client concerns and major delivery risks, and support Project Managers in resolving escalations beyond their scope
- Proactively orchestrate incidents and stay actively involved in incident management with the client, including during live events and peak-traffic periods
- Escalate to the SVP, Engineering Delivery where Engineering priorities conflict across clients, or between client work and the platform roadmap
- Ensure post-incident reviews take place and resulting actions are tracked to closure
Team leadership and development
- Lead, coach, and mentor a growing, multidisciplinary team globally, and play a key part in shaping and scaling the Vesper delivery organization
- Act as line manager for Project Managers and related project leadership roles, and coach them in effective line management
- Establish consistent ways of working, templates, and governance for a newly formed team, working with the other delivery pillars to share good practice
- Help develop a stronger Program Management discipline across the pillar, including training and development such as workshops and internal conferences
Client and commercial ownership
- Manage senior client relationships, driving a strategic outlook while ensuring day-to-day matters are managed effectively through the project team
- Co-own account growth with Account Managers and the Commercial and Technical teams, maximizing up-sell, cross-sell, and renewal opportunities throughout the engagement lifecycle
- Align with Account Managers on account strategies to ensure delivery feasibility and appropriate resourcing, and prepare joint account reviews and client steering meetings
- Hold ongoing GM accountability for projects after release, and shared accountability for net revenue retention and growth
- Work with business unit leadership to influence the technical and strategic direction of projects for the best outcomes for Deltatre and the client
- Sign off on and manage closure of the Build phase with the client, running a retrospective that feeds learnings back into Solutions and Engineering leadership to inform future bids
- Manage service transfers to B2B Support, Platform Support, and LiveOps teams as required
Requirements
This is the experience that will help you hit the ground running.
Required
- 10+ years' Project/Program Management experience in a fast-paced, tech-focused environment, including large-scale, multi-year, complex projects and their associated budgets
- Strong Agile experience, alongside other delivery methodologies (for example waterfall, hybrid, PRINCE2, or Scrum at scale), with the judgment to choose and adapt the right approach for each program
- Excellent management and coaching skills, with the ability to influence, build trust, and motivate cross-functional teams without formal authority
- Strong senior stakeholder management skills, including partnering with Account Management or Sales functions
- Exceptional verbal and written English, with the ability to communicate with clarity and precision at all levels, including client-facing and executive settings
- Track record of driving results through ambiguity in a large, complex organization with multiple stakeholders
- Strong understanding of technology, process, risk, and controls, including commercial and GM awareness
- Experience working in an international organization, ideally with multi-country remote teams, and delivering across European, North American, and southeast Asian business cultures
- Experience managing capacity, resourcing, and prioritization across a portfolio of concurrent projects or accounts in a scaled agile, fast-paced, international environment
- Experience with incident management and client-facing escalation handling
- Able to travel regularly
Valued
- Experience delivering on a shared, multi-tenant product or platform, balancing client-specific needs against a common roadmap
- Experience with OTT, video streaming, or media platforms, including client migrations, launches, and live-event readiness
- Experience building or scaling a new delivery team or function
- Experience representing and running large, cross-functional software projects, and communicating strategy, goals, and progress to varied audiences
- Experience within the digital and sports industry
- Comfort collaborating with engineering, product, design, data science, and research teams, as well as individual contributors, C-suite, and vendors, and a hands-on willingness to help solve problems that move the program forward
Who Thrives Here
This role carries end-to-end oversight of a portfolio of programs and accounts that don't sit neatly in one office or time zone. You'll triage, prioritize, and lead cross-functional teams in real time, often across hemispheres, while keeping client delivery and the Vesper platform roadmap pulling in the same direction. It suits someone who keeps every player coordinated without being asked.
People who do well here bring structure to ambiguity instead of waiting for it to resolve, enjoy building a team and its ways of working as much as running one, and build trust with stakeholders from individual contributors to the C-suite and Account Managers. They own escalations and incidents as they arise, and keep a steady hand when the pace and scale of a multi-year, multi-country, multi-account portfolio gets difficult.
Process and what to expect
Salary starts from €70,000 rising to €90,000 for those with significant relevant experience. Where you land depends on the experience and expertise you bring.
If your expectations sit outside the range, tell us anyway —we're happy to have an open conversation. Internal progression is assessed through a structured process combining a technical assessment and a competency-based interview. The role falls under CCNL Commercio| D.Lgs. 96/2026.
Interview stages
- Introductory conversation: a step for us to get to know each other better, and for us to answer all questions you might have around Deltatre.
- 1-hour Technical round of Interview: we will deep dive on your experience and explore your delivery background in details.
- 1-hour Competency Based Interview: we will ask you situational questions around how you deal with real-life scenarios at work. Easier doing it, more than explaining it.
If any of these formats would be difficult for you, tell us - we adjust regularly and can usually accommodate.
Accessibility and accommodation questions are welcome at any stage. Tell us what would work for you.
