Overview
In this role you will lead ICTP's Mathematics Section, shaping research directions and building international collaborations. You will mentor a diverse team of researchers and oversee the implementation of high-impact mathematics programs across the developing world. You will represent ICTP at global forums, driving partnerships and capacity building. The position offers the opportunity to influence scientific excellence and contribute to ICTP’s mission of advancing science in developing countries. This is a high-visibility leadership role with a focus on strategic research, partnerships, and training.

Responsabilità
- Lead scientific research activities in Mathematics, identify priorities, and provide strategic guidance to the Senior Coordinator.
- Build and manage international partnerships to exchange knowledge and co-develop programs.
- Recruit staff and research fellows, secure resources, and ensure excellence across existing programs.
- Represent ICTP at international meetings and report on research outcomes and collaboration opportunities.
- Provide technical advice on ICTP education and training programs in Mathematics and contribute to scientific agreements with institutions.
- Engage with the Institute Advancement Unit to present research opportunities and advocate for capacity building.
- Supervise staff, fellows, and visitors, offering mentorship and intellectual leadership.
- Teach in international and diploma programs, supervise theses, and participate in student selection.
Requisiti fondamentali
- Ph.D. or equivalent in Physics or related disciplines
- Minimum 10 years of post-doctoral research experience in Mathematics or related field, with international experience preferred
- Proven high-caliber publication record and international recognition
- Experience designing, implementing, and managing scientific projects
- Experience in teaching/mentoring undergraduate and postgraduate students
- Experience with donor relations/scientific outreach
- Experience coordinating research collaborations with developing countries
