Within the **Advanced Cognitive Solutions** area - **Digital Deep Technologies** group at the **Genoa or Rome** office, we are looking for researchers in the fields of Edge AI / Edge Computing and Cloud Computing / Cloud – Edge Continuum. The identified profiles will carry out the following activities: * Participate in the development of the company's technological strategy and the implementation of innovative research programs in the field of advanced digital technologies; * Identify growth needs and opportunities both inside and outside the company and study the various possible applications of their research topic; * Preparation of proposals for external research projects and execution of European or state-funded programs; * Supervise Thesis, Internship and PhD projects with Universities; * Setting up laboratory equipment and experimental area, if necessary; * Document and communicate results with reports and presentations to partners and clients. Below is the description of the profiles sought for the two different areas. ## EDGE AI PROFILE: **Knowledge and technical skills:** * Experience in identifying requirements for executing AI applications by selecting suitable software libraries and frameworks, both existing and custom-built for the application; * In-depth knowledge of Linux, C/C++ and Python languages, as well as ML frameworks such as Pytorch/Tensorflow/Onnx. * Experience with computing architectures based on x86, ARM, RISC-V, knowledge of accelerators typically used for training and inference such as GPUs (CUDA or ROCm) and TPU/NPU based on systolic arrays. * Familiarity with hardware platform characterization,



extracting metrics such as computational latency and power consumption; * Knowledge of design and validation methods for platforms using characterized and developed hardware components; * Experience in deploying AI models on resource-constrained edge devices (such as microcontrollers, Raspberry Pi, Jetson, Coral). * Knowledge of model optimization and compression techniques (quantization, pruning, LoRA, early termination, etc). ### Nice to have: * Experience in co-design of hardware and software platforms for Edge AI, especially in the Space sector; * Experience with hardware certifications in the Space sector; * Knowledge of languages for heterogeneous architectures (e.g. SYCL); * Experience with dedicated NPU / AI accelerators (e.g. Hailo-8, Metis, Hexagon); * Familiarity with application containerization methods (Docker, Singularity, Podman), building and deploying containers; * Experience in processing satellite image analysis. ## CLOUD-EDGE CONTINUUM PROFILE: **Knowledge and technical skills:** * Knowledge of open source Cloud Computing platforms (e.g. OpenStack) and related instance creation, management and implementation; * Familiarity with different application containerization methods (e.g. Docker, Singularity, Podman), building and deploying containers, also with support for the use of GPUs and hardware accelerators; * Experience with Cloud orchestration tools to automate deployment, scaling, networking and management of containers (e.g. Kubernetes, OpenShift); * Familiarity with Data Lakes technologies for Data Analytics and related Cloud services (e.g. Hadoop, Spark); * Familiarity with GIT, AGILE methodology and Continuous Integration and Delivery; * Experience in implementing Cloud solutions for Edge hardware, especially in the Space sector. ### Nice to have: * Experience in Cloud Computing paradigms at the Edge, especially in the Space sector; * Knowledge of Federated Learning and Confidential Computing methodologies; * Familiarity with blockchain technologies and cryptography / data protection; * Experience in deploying services based on Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence; * Knowledge of programming languages (e.g. Bash, Python) and automation tools (e.g. Terraform, Ansible).



**Education:** Master's/specialist degree, preferably a master's and/or a PhD. **Required experience level:** Junior and expert resources are required. **Behavioral skills:** * Team working; * Problem solving; * Flexibility; * Ability to autonomously manage research projects. **Language skills:** Knowledge of English (B2 level). **Other (e.g. Availability for business trips/Specific certifications required...):** * Availability for temporary business trips for cooperation in cross-functional activities; * Availability for national and international business trips.
