Royal Hobart Hospital is Tasmania’s largest hospital, and the Cardiothoracic Surgical Unit within the RHH is the tertiary referral centre for all cardiothoracic surgery in Tasmania. As the major clinical teaching and research centre, RHH works closely with the University of Tasmania and other institutions. All our services work closely together to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community.

Medical and Cancer Services provide contemporary inpatient and outpatient health care services including Cancer Services, Acute Medicine, Subspecialty Medicine (Gastroenterology, Renal, Rheumatology, Neurology, Endocrinology), Respiratory, Ambulatory Care Services and Cardiology.

The CNC Healthcare Redesign provides expert leadership, project management skills and evidence-based health care improvement approaches to improve patient care within MaCS and facilitate consumer engagement and health professional consultation,



for the development and implementation of meaningful and sustainable change across the health service.

The Role

• Lead healthcare redesign project work, addressing upcoming trends in the environment by undertaking specialised research to ensure a structured and person-centred approach for improving local healthcare processes, services, and performance.

• Undertake problem identification, data collection and solutions development, through the utilisation of Lean, Six Sigma and Theory of Constraints methodologies.

• Collaborate with patients and multidisciplinary teams to design, develop and test solutions to improve service quality.

• Identify and lead the evaluation of nursing practice standards and policies within the specialist area to optimise and promote improved health outcomes for patients.
