Freelance Ground Operations Coordinator – Venice
About Us
WalksDevour brings people together through unforgettable food and cultural experiences in some of the world’s most iconic destinations. In Venice, our tours range from cultural city walks and private experiences to food tours, gondola rides, and visits to the city’s most iconic landmarks.
Behind every experience is a dedicated local team of guides, coordinators, and operators who work collaboratively on the ground to manage logistics, support our guides, and create memorable experiences for our guests.
About You
We’re looking for a Freelance Ground Operations Coordinator to support our day-to-day tour operations in Venice city center.
This is a hands-on, people-facing role, ideal for someone who is organized, punctual, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced tourism environment. You’ll be present on the ground, coordinating tour departures, supporting freelance guides, assisting guests, and helping ensure that every experience runs smoothly.
The ideal candidate is reliable, resourceful, and collaborative, with strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a positive, can-do attitude.
The position involves approximately 25 hours per week, starting in November 2026. Flexibility is essential, as the schedule includes weekends and evening shifts, depending on tour departures and operational needs.
This is a freelance collaboration requiring an active Partita IVA. Candidates must be based in Venice city center or within easy reach of the main tour meeting points and be legally authorized to work in Italy. Fluency in both English and Italian is essential.
About the Opportunity
As a Freelance Ground Operations Coordinator,
you’ll play an important role in ensuring the smooth delivery of our daily tours in Venice. Working closely with the Ground Operations Manager, you’ll coordinate tour departures, support our local freelance guides, assist guests at meeting points, and resolve operational issues as they arise.
You’ll help ensure that guides have the information and materials they need, that guests are checked in correctly, and that company procedures are followed consistently. You’ll also act as an important point of contact for guides, local partners, and the operations team, reporting any issues or feedback that could affect tour quality or the guest experience.
We’re looking for someone with previous experience in tourism, tour operations, hospitality, or a similar customer-facing role. Experience working directly with tour guides and coordinating group activities is a strong advantage.
This role is primarily on-site and focused on operational coordination. It does not include administrative or office-based responsibilities. You’ll need to be comfortable working independently, making quick decisions, and adapting to the changing needs of daily tour operations.
Your Responsibilities
- Tour coordination: Coordinate daily tour departures, collect and distribute tickets and materials,
and ensure guides have everything they need before tours begin.
- Guest check-in: Welcome guests at meeting points, check attendance, verify booking information when required, and provide clear instructions before departure.
- Guide support: Coordinate with local freelance guides, communicate operational updates, and assist with day-to-day challenges.
- On-the-ground problem-solving: Resolve unexpected issues, manage delays, and escalate operational problems to the Ground Operations Manager when necessary.
- Operational quality: Monitor tour departures and delivery, identify recurring issues, and share feedback to improve the guest experience.
- Partner coordination: Liaise with local partners and suppliers when required to ensure tours run smoothly.
- Compliance: Ensure that operational procedures and company standards are followed and report any recurring issues or non-compliance.
Requirements
- Based in Venice city center or within easy reach of the main tour meeting points.
- Fluent in both English and Italian.
- Previous experience in tourism, tour operations, hospitality, or a similar customer-facing role.
- Experience working with tour guides or coordinating group activities is an advantage.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Punctual, reliable, and attentive to detail.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to manage unexpected situations calmly.
- Comfortable working independently and collaboratively with a local team.
- Availability to work approximately 25 hours per week, including weekends and evenings as required.
- An active Partita IVA and legal authorization to carry out freelance work in Italy.
