Siamo una PMI innovativa deep tech di intelligenza artificiale nata nel 2016 come spin-off della Sapienza, fondata da Roberto Navigli, Professore Ordinario, vincitore di due prestigiosi grant ERC e Fellow di AAAI, ACL, ELLIS ed EurAI. In dieci anni abbiamo costruito tecnologie di Natural Language Processing multilingue, semantica e knowledge graph (a partire da BabelNet) e oggi, in sinergia con Sapienza, sviluppiamo Minerva, la famiglia di LLM italiani preaddestrati, insieme ad assistenti conversazionali, sistemi RAG e agenti in produzione per pubbliche amministrazioni, istituzioni culturali e grandi aziende.

Babelscape si colloca alla frontiera della ricerca e dell’innovazione, svolgendo un’intensa attività di ricerca e sviluppo sia nell’ambito di iniziative progettuali interne ad alto contenuto innovativo, sia attraverso la partecipazione a progetti di ricerca europei. Particolarmente forte è la sinergia con Sapienza Università di Roma, grazie a una stretta e proficua collaborazione con il gruppo di ricerca Sapienza NLP, che coinvolge attivamente ricercatori e dottorandi.

Cosa farai

- Progettare, sviluppare e mettere in produzione soluzioni basate su LLM: assistenti conversazionali, pipeline RAG, agenti.
- Lavorare sul post-training dei modelli (SFT, DPO, GRPO e altre tecniche avanzate), sulla loro valutazione e sull'adattamento a domini e lingue specifiche.
- Sperimentare modelli e algoritmi di NLP e portare i risultati migliori nei progetti per i clienti.
- Collaborare con il team, che include dottorandi industriali in NLP e il prof. Navigli, e con i project manager che seguono i clienti.

Requisiti

- Laurea magistrale (anche in corso) in Informatica, Ingegneria informatica, Intelligenza artificiale o aree affini.
- Ottima conoscenza di Python.
- Buona conoscenza di PyTorch e dell'ecosistema Hugging Face.
- Esperienza pratica con LLM: fine-tuning o post-training, anche in progetti universitari, tesi o repository personali.
- Inglese fluente, scritto e parlato.
- Capacità di risolvere problemi, di lavorare in autonomia e in squadra; alto grado di proattività.

Costituiscono un plus

- Esperienza con architetture RAG, motori di ricerca (Elasticsearch, OpenSearch) o database vettoriali.
- Esperienza con framework per agenti o per l'orchestrazione di LLM.
- Esperienza nella valutazione di LLM (benchmark, LLM-as-a-judge, valutazione umana).
- Esperienza nel serving di modelli open-weight (ad es. vLLM)



e con Docker.
- Sviluppo backend (FastAPI, SQL) e cloud (AWS, Azure o GCP).
- Knowledge graph (ad es. Neo4j) e NLP multilingue.
- Ottima conoscenza dell'italiano.
- Pubblicazioni scientifiche in NLP.

Babelscape is looking for two NLP & LLM Engineers to join its team in Rome, in a hybrid setting.

We are an innovative deep-tech AI SME, founded in 2016 as a spin-off of Sapienza University of Rome by Roberto Navigli, Full Professor, recipient of two prestigious ERC grants and Fellow of AAAI, ACL, ELLIS and EurAI. Over ten years we have built multilingual Natural Language Processing, semantics and knowledge graph technologies (starting with BabelNet). Today, together with Sapienza, we develop Minerva, the family of pretrained Italian LLMs, along with conversational assistants, RAG systems and agents running in production for public administrations, cultural institutions and large companies.

Babelscape operates at the frontier of research and innovation, with intensive R&D; activity both in highly innovative internal projects and through participation in European research projects. We have a particularly strong synergy with Sapienza University of Rome,



through a close and fruitful collaboration with the Sapienza NLP research group, which actively involves researchers and PhD students.

What you will do

- Design, build and deploy LLM-based solutions: conversational assistants, RAG pipelines, agents.
- Work on model post-training (SFT, DPO, GRPO and other advanced techniques), evaluation, and adaptation to specific domains and languages.
- Experiment with NLP models and algorithms and bring the best results into customer projects.
- Work with the team, which includes industrial PhD students in NLP and Prof. Navigli, and with the project managers who follow our customers.

Requirements

- Master's degree (completed or in progress) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Artificial Intelligence or a related field.
- Excellent Python skills.
- Good knowledge of PyTorch and the Hugging Face ecosystem.
- Hands-on experience with LLMs: fine-tuning or post-training, including university projects, theses or personal repositories.
- Fluent written and spoken English.
- Strong problem-solving skills, able to work independently and in a team; proactive.

Nice to have

- Experience with RAG architectures, search engines (Elasticsearch, OpenSearch) or vector databases.
- Experience with agent or LLM orchestration frameworks.
- Experience with LLM evaluation (benchmarks, LLM-as-a-judge, human evaluation).
- Experience serving open-weight models (e.g. vLLM) and with Docker.
- Backend development (FastAPI, SQL) and cloud (AWS, Azure or GCP).
- Knowledge graphs (e.g. Neo4j) and multilingual NLP.
- Excellent command of Italian.
- Scientific publications in NLP.
