Job Title Indirect Tax Manager Europe

Role Overview

The European Indirect Tax Manager takes ownership of VAT compliance across multiple European jurisdictions. Reporting to and working closely with the Senior Indirect Tax Manager Europe, this role ensures accurate filings, robust reconciliations and timely responses to VAT queries.

By providing practical VAT support to LKQ’s business and finance teams, the European Indirect Tax Manager strengthens controls and governance and helps the organization respond effectively to a changing indirect tax environment.

Key Responsibilities

Compliance & Stakeholder Support

• Managing VAT compliance processes across multiple European jurisdictions, with activities including the preparation, review, submission support and reconciliation of VAT returns and related reporting obligations
• Reviewing VAT returns prepared by the Shared Service Centers and relating to European entities; challenging outputs where necessary and ensuring resolution of issues prior to filing




• Working with Shared Service Centers to embed best practice in European VAT filings; improving the accuracy and integrity of VAT data and reducing reliance on external advisors where appropriate
• Supporting local finance teams in reviewing key balance sheet reconciliations of indirect tax accounts
• Coordinating responses to external auditors, advisors and tax authorities on queries relating to VAT, audits and information requests
• Assisting with compliance obligations across other indirect taxes, including Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), Plastic Packaging Tax and evolving environmental taxes

Controls, Risk & Process Improvement

• Developing a robust VAT-control framework through reviewing, strengthening and maintaining VAT controls, processes, and documentation

Advisory & Business Partnering

• Working with the Senior Indirect Tax Manager Europe to determine and implement appropriate VAT positions for business initiatives and transactions; helping
