The Child Health and Parenting Service (CHaPS) provides important health and wellbeing services to families across Tasmania with children aged 0 to 5. The service promotes the healthy development and wellbeing of children, providing growth and developmental assessments, health-focused early intervention, referrals and connections with other early childhood providers.
The CHaPS Residential Parenting Unit (lilinga) supports early intervention and support to families to navigate the adjustments and broad range of challenges that can arise during early parenting, equipping them with the confidence, knowledge and tools needed to support family wellbeing.
lilinga means Tasmanian Myrtle Beech (Nothofagus cunninghamii) in palawa kani, the language of Tasmanian Aborigines.
The Role
The lilinga Hospital Aide assists in the maintenance of a safe, welcoming environment within lilinga, including helping admitted families and clinical staff to maintain infection control and cleanliness in general areas, providing general assistance and wayfinding for families,
and ensuring families and visitors are comfortable and feel at home. The Hospital Aide also assists the management team in maintaining stock and ensuring ordering processes are undertaken in a timely manner.
You will need
• Demonstrated knowledge of the standards required to prevent infection.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with empathy and compassion, build rapport quickly, and create a supportive and welcoming environment for families.
• Ability and willingness to work as part of a team in promoting a harmonious work environment.
• Ability to monitor unit stock and stores, ordering when appropriate.
