Company Description
Rokin Research is an early-stage investment research platform that takes its name from the historic Rokin in Amsterdam, reflecting its connection to a city with a longstanding tradition of commerce, finance and international exchange.
Our research focuses on how economic, technological, political and structural changes reshape markets, industries and businesses. We combine economic analysis, market research and investment insight to investigate where change is occurring, why it matters and what opportunities or risks it creates for investors and businesses. These insights are designed to support investment firms and other organisations seeking to make better-informed decisions.
As a growing platform, Rokin offers the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the development of our research, analytical processes and publications.
Role Description
We are seeking motivated and intellectually curious individuals to join Rokin Research as Research Analyst Interns for an initial three-month placement.
The internship offers hands-on experience in economic, financial and industry research, with opportunities to investigate market developments, evaluate data and contribute to the development of research publications.
A central aspect of the role involves critically reviewing research findings, independently verifying sources and statistics, evaluating quantitative models and challenging the assumptions underlying economic and investment analysis.
Interns will work closely with research leadership, receive regular guidance and feedback, and develop practical experience with professional research methodologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative research into economic, financial, technological and industrial developments.
- Investigate primary sources and independently verify research findings, statistics and citations.
- Review spreadsheets, economic and financial models,
including calculations, methodologies and underlying assumptions.
- Critically evaluate research conclusions, identify inconsistencies and suggest areas for further investigation.
- Synthesise findings into clear research notes, summaries and supporting materials.
- Contribute to the preparation, review and development of research reports and publications.
- Support the improvement of analytical frameworks, research methodologies and quality-control processes.
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a university degree, preferably in Economics, Finance, Business, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering or a related field. Applicants from all academic disciplines are encouraged to apply.
- Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to evaluate evidence and question assumptions.
- Interest in economics, financial markets, technology, industry or broader structural change.
- Strong written and spoken English.
- Attention to detail, intellectual curiosity and a willingness to learn.
- Ability to work independently, manage responsibilities and meet agreed deadlines.
- Familiarity with spreadsheets, statistical analysis or research methods is an advantage, but not required.
Previous professional research experience is not necessary. We value diverse academic perspectives and welcome candidates who can bring different ways of thinking to our research.
Benefits & Professional Development
- Hands-On Research Experience: Gain practical exposure to substantive research projects and develop analytical skills relevant to careers in finance, consulting,
investment management and economic research.
- Meaningful Responsibility: Contribute directly to the development of research at an early-stage organisation where your work can make a visible difference.
- Direct Mentorship & Feedback: Receive regular guidance, constructive feedback and opportunities to strengthen your analytical and professional capabilities.
- Personalised Language Development: Language-learning support through Preply may be available, subject to an agreed learning allowance and availability.
- Flexible Remote Participation: Work remotely with agreed schedules and responsibilities designed to accommodate academic commitments.
- Research Portfolio Development: Develop demonstrable research capabilities and potentially contribute to published research, subject to editorial review and approval.
- End-of-Term Evaluation: Receive a structured assessment of your performance, professional development and areas for further improvement.
- Potential Future Paid Opportunities: High-performing interns may be considered for paid research projects or positions following the initial placement, subject to business needs and available funding. Paid opportunities are not guaranteed.
Internship Structure
The internship runs for approximately three months and is designed as a supervised educational experience.
Participants will work on defined research assignments, participate in regular progress check-ins and receive feedback on their analytical development.
The programme combines independent research with structured guidance and opportunities to learn about research methodology, economic reasoning, quantitative analysis and professional research standards.
