In this role you drive civilian Earth Observation (EO) capabilities for security and resilience, aligning with ESA's ERS programme. You will engage law enforcement and security stakeholders, promote EO adoption, and shape innovative projects that merge EO with non-EO data and advanced processing like AI. You will collaborate across ESA teams and contribute to communication of EO benefits to society. You will also mentor trainees and fellows, supporting capacity building in this domain.
Responsabilità
- Engage law enforcement and security stakeholders to explore collaboration and adoption of civilian EO capabilities
- Identify opportunities to address uptake barriers and consolidate stakeholder information requirements
- Design and implement innovative projects leveraging EO data with private sector systems in security domains
- Develop architectures and processing methods (e.g., edge processing, AI) to meet security needs
- Assess EO science and applications developments for exploitation potential in law enforcement/security
- Coordinate with ESA teams on industrial innovation and ERS-EO Element 1/2 activities
- Contribute to ESA communications promoting EO results and societal benefits
- Supervise and support Young Graduate Trainees, National Trainees and Research Fellows
Requisiti fondamentali
- Master's degree in engineering, Earth science, computer science, applied physics or data science
- Six years of relevant professional experience (in principle)
- Specialist experience in law enforcement, fragile states, or civil-military cooperation is advantageous
- Strong problem-solving and results-oriented capabilities
- Ability to prioritize and present practical solutions orally and in writing
