Electrical Project Engineer – Solar PV (EPC)

Contract: Permanent or Freelance The Opportunity An established renewable energy company is looking to hire an Electrical Project Engineer to support the development and delivery of its growing portfolio of utility-scale solar PV projects across Italy.

This is an excellent opportunity for an electrical engineer with a background in PV system design who is looking to broaden their experience across the full project lifecycle, from preliminary technical studies and engineering through procurement and EPC contractor management to construction.

Working within a collaborative engineering team, you will play an important role in ensuring projects are technically sound, commercially competitive and delivered efficiently. Candidates with experience in Owner's Engineering or EPC environments are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

- Preliminary Engineering: Coordinate technical studies, including geotechnical, topographical and hydrological assessments, reviewing scopes and identifying opportunities for optimisation.
- Electrical Design: Support the development and review of solar PV plant layouts, electrical designs, technical specifications and engineering documentation.
- Procurement: Assist with technical tender processes for key equipment, including solar modules, inverters and trackers, evaluating supplier proposals.
- EPC Management: Support the tendering and selection of EPC contractors, reviewing technical proposals, scopes of work and exclusions.
- Project Costing:



Contribute to project CAPEX estimates, technical budgets and investment approval processes.
- Construction Support: Coordinate with engineering consultants, contractors and equipment suppliers to support project execution, resolve technical issues and ensure compliance with relevant standards.
- Grid Connections: Support grid connection activities and liaise with relevant stakeholders where required.

Candidate Requirements

- Degree in Electrical Engineering is essential.
- Previous experience in electrical design, ideally involving solar PV systems.
- Experience working on renewable energy projects within an EPC contractor, Owner's Engineering consultancy or IPP environment.
- Understanding of solar PV plant design, electrical infrastructure and technical documentation.
- Familiarity with Italian grid connection requirements and relevant electrical standards is advantageous.
- Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders.
- A proactive, hands-on mindset and the motivation to take ownership of projects and develop technically.
