Development of simplified methods for
risk classification and safety assessment of existing earth-retaining structures along the Italian motorway network.
The research project will be structured into four main phases: (1)



identification and analysis of the different types of
earth-retaining structures currently in service along the Italian motorway network; (2) development of simplified
methodologies for risk assessment of both older and recently constructed structures; (3) design and implementation
of a site investigation campaign aimed at validating the assumptions underlying the proposed methodologies; and
(4) application and validation of the developed approaches through selected case studies
