Role Purpose Following the successful implementation of Starr’s Italian branch office in Milan, Starr Italy is now focused on launching its Property line of business, with the aim of actively underwriting and binding new business, effective 31 December 2026. The Property Underwriting Manager / Senior Underwriter will play a key role in driving the growth of the portfolio by marketing Starr’s Property offering to broker partners, evaluating and underwriting submissions, assessing risk exposures, and negotiating terms and conditions. The position will be responsible for providing competitive underwriting solutions and binding business that is consistent with Starr’s underwriting appetite and the strategic objectives of the Italian Branch Office.

Key Responsibilities
• Drive the marketing and development of Starr’s Property proposition with broker partners in line with the Italian go-to-market strategy.
• Review and assess renewal and new business submissions, conducting detailed analyses of risk exposures and underwriting considerations.
• Prepare and negotiate quotations and bind risks that fall within Starr’s underwriting appetite, authority framework, and underwriting guidelines.
• Develop and maintain a repository of locally compliant policy wordings, endorsements,



and underwriting documentation.
• Enhancing Starr’s Property offering, identifying market opportunities, and building a profitable and sustainable portfolio.
• Portfolio management activities, including monitoring underwriting performance, profitability, and portfolio composition against strategic objectives. This description may be varied from time to time to reflect changing business requirements. Qualifications, skills and experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Law, Risk Management, Insurance, or a related discipline (other scientific or technical degrees will also be considered).
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience underwriting Commercial Property risks, with a proven track record of profitable portfolio development.
• Fluency in both Italian and English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong ability to work independently, manage priorities effectively, and exercise sound underwriting judgment.
• Excellent interpersonal, networking, and business development skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong broker relationships.
• Collaborative team player with a positive, proactive attitude and a results-oriented mindset.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex risk exposures and recommend appropriate underwriting solutions.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and underwriting platforms, with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems and technologies.
• Highly motivated, entrepreneurial, and capable of contributing to the successful launch and growth of Starr’s Branch Office in Italy.
