Who we are looking for

We are looking for a Mechanical Technical Leader to join our Innovation team and play a key role in the evolution of Caracol's robotic manufacturing platforms.

In this position, you will act as a technical reference for mechanical engineering and robotic system integration, leading the development of innovative technological solutions from initial concept and design through prototyping, testing, validation, and transition to industrialization.

You will take technical ownership of complex engineering challenges, collaborate closely with multidisciplinary R&D; teams, and provide technical guidance to junior engineers, ensuring consistency, quality, and innovation throughout the development process.





Few examples of responsibilities

- End-to-end mechanical development & robotic integration: Lead the design and development of complex mechanical and mechatronic solutions for Caracol’s robotic manufacturing platforms, ensuring seamless integration with robotic and automation systems throughout the entire development lifecycle
- System development & optimization: Contribute to the continuous evolution of Caracol's platforms by identifying opportunities to improve mechanical architecture, system functionality, performance, and manufacturability.
- Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with mechanical, electrical, automation, and software engineers to ensure effective integration of different technologies and alignment across the entire system architecture.
- Testing & validation: Coordinate and support prototyping, testing, and validation activities, troubleshooting technical issues and implementing effective engineering solutions.
- Industrialization & cross-functional collaboration: Support the industrialization of Caracol’s robotic platforms, working closely with the Technical Office and Operations teams to ensure engineering solutions are optimized for manufacturability, assembly and reliability.
- Technical coordination & mentoring: Guide and coordinate the technical activities of junior mechanical engineers, providing technical direction, reviewing engineering solutions, and supporting knowledge sharing and team growth.

Ideal Background

- Master's or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering,



Mechatronics Engineering, or a closely related engineering field.
- 6-7 years of experience in mechanical and mechatronic design engineering roles within industrial environments, with direct involvement in the design of robotic systems or complex mechatronic machinery.
- Strong mechanical engineering expertise, including mechanical design, system architecture, 3D CAD modeling, technical drawings, materials with a strong understanding of automation, motion systems, and electromechanical components
- Experience providing technical guidance, coordinating engineering activities, or mentoring less experienced colleagues.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a hands-on approach to engineering and technology development.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams in a dynamic and innovation-driven environment.
- Fluent Italian and English, both written and spoken.

Nice to have:

- Previous experience in Additive Manufacturing, particularly robotic or large-scale additive manufacturing technologies.
- Familiarity with industrial robotic platforms and robotic integration technologies, including systems from manufacturers such as KUKA, ABB, or similar.
- Knowledge of industrial machinery safety, technical standards, and mechanical design requirements for automated production systems.
