We are seeking a highly motivated Scientist with experience in microbial bioinformatics. The successful candidate will be involved in the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Sacco's bioinformatics pipelines (approximately 70% of the role). In addition, the position will involve selected wet-lab activities (e.g. DNA extraction, PCR) and the preparation of technical reports (approximately 30%), contributing to an integrated and multidisciplinary research environment.
DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Implement, and maintain scalable, reproducible bioinformatics pipelines for microbial genomics and multi-omics data
Perform standard wet-lab activities when required
Contribute to assigned projects, including experimental design, data analysis, and report writing
Conduct literature reviews and prepare scientific presentations
Ensure accurate data entry and proper documentation in line with internal standards
SKILLS
Experience in programming languages (Python, Bash, and R).
Previous experience in managing and analyse large omics datasets
Previous experience in the installation,



use and/or development of bioinformatics pipelines and computational tools in Linux-based environments.
Hands-on experience with standard molecular biology techniques (DNA/RNA extraction, PCRs)
Good knowledge of statistics and data analysis applied to biological systems
Fluent English (both written and spoken)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail
Well-organised and able to manage multiple priorities
Team-oriented, proactive and results-driven
Demonstrated interest in innovation, method development and emerging technologies
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Biology or related disciplines, with excellent grades.
PhD and/or significant hands-on experience in microbial bioinformatics or related fields will be considered as a plus
