DESCRIPTION

Amazon Web Services (AWS) seeks a Physical Security Manager — Data Center Security for our Milan-area data centers. This role is the primary physical security contact for assigned sites, reporting directly to the Cluster Security Manager.
In this role, you will execute tactical security operations while being exposed to strategic thinking — managing day-to-day security at your sites, resolving straightforward security challenges, and learning to contribute to cluster-level goals. You will own the security posture of your assigned sites, work on forward-looking tasks, and grow your expertise within one of the world's largest cloud providers.

Key job responsibilities
Security Operations & Vendor Management
Own physical security operations for your assigned sites
Manage straightforward security problems and components of existing security programs
Apply established AWS security standards; resolve straightforward security problems in the absence of SOPs with input from senior management
Oversee access control systems, CCTV monitoring, guard force operations, and vendor contracts
Assess vendor compliance, track service deliverables, and escalate corrective actions when needed; provide guidance to vendors in situations lacking SOPs
Report on project status and vendor SLAs
May participate in on-call rotations
Tactical Contribution, Learning & Projects
Work on forward-looking tasks; learning to contribute to developing strategic goals for the cluster
Adapt operational plans to straightforward, changing security scenarios
Deliver cluster-level security operations projects
Make trade-offs: time vs. resources
Assist in recruitment and onboarding practices for new team members
Process, Compliance & Risk Management
Contribute to risk and security management by making straightforward trade-off decisions and providing recommendations
Create SOPs and contribute to improvements to ensure processes remain relevant and align with team strategy




Participate in business continuity/resilience planning
Support investigative actions in collaboration with HR, Legal, global security team, and law enforcement
Conduct inspections, audits, and reviews to ensure compliance with AWS security standards and policies
May own post-incident correction of errors, including writing action items and resolving them

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Professional proficiency in English (written and verbal) — this is the primary working language for the role
- Experience in physical security operations, or equivalent (e.g., military, law enforcement, critical infrastructure protection)
- Ability to resolve straightforward security problems and make trade-off decisions with general guidance in a timely manner
- Working knowledge of physical security systems (access control, CCTV, intrusion detection)
- Experience in vendor management, including compliance tracking and escalation of corrective actions
- Familiarity with risk assessment and business continuity concepts
- Ability to manage projects and deliver under defined parameters
- Clear communication skills — ability to present to senior management (up to Senior Manager level)
- Valid driver's license and own transport with a willingness to travel between sites (mileage reimbursement provided) and internationally

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience working in a data center, critical infrastructure, or global corporate security environment
- Knowledge of investigative practices and experience supporting security investigations
- Italian language proficiency (verbal and written) — highly valued for local stakeholder and emergency services coordination
- Experience creating or improving SOPs and operational procedures




- Ability to collaborate across teams with partner groups (engineering, operations, colocation providers)
- Strong cross-cultural communication abilities; experience working across diverse locales and functions

The minimum gross base salary for this position is listed below. The base salary listed corresponds to working on a full-time basis. For tempo parziale hours, the salary will be pro-rated.

Amazon reserves the right to offer a higher salary and/or level, depending on the candidate's skills, competencies, and experience. Amazon's package may include a sign on payment. In addition, the candidate may be eligible to participate in a restricted stock unit scheme operated independently by Amazon.com Inc. in USA. Your recruiting team will share final salary and any restricted stock unit scheme if applicable, depending on skills and requirements.

In addition to statutory benefits, and those applicable to the relevant CBA, company supplementary benefits may apply subject to further terms.
