Data & Analytics is a strategic function for us, and we are looking for a Lead Data Engineer passionate about designing and running data platforms that process millions of transactions every day through Nexi payment methods.

RESPONSIBILITIES

We are looking for a motivated and experienced professional who will lead the design and delivery of our cloud data solutions, in particular:

- Design and evolve scalable, cloud-based data architectures on Databricks, covering batch and real-time use cases
- Build and industrialize streaming data pipelines with Apache Kafka and Spark Structured Streaming, covering the end-to-end data lifecycle, from discovery to production
- Ingest and process large-scale, multi-structured data from heterogeneous sources, ensuring data quality, reliability and performance
- Define engineering standards, best practices and data validation frameworks, and introduce new tools and approaches where they add value
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to the data engineering team, and support solutions in production (monitoring, troubleshooting, continuous improvement)
- Work closely with business stakeholders, architects and data scientists to turn business needs into effective data solutions

REQUIREMENTS





- 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering, including experience in a technical lead or senior role
- Proven hands-on experience with Databricks (Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, Workflows) on a major cloud platform (Azure, AWS)
- Strong experience with Apache Kafka and real-time / streaming data processing (e.g. Spark Structured Streaming)
- Solid knowledge of Apache Spark, data pipelining / ETL-ELT and modern data architectures (e.g. Lakehouse, Medallion)
- Proficiency in Python and SQL; good knowledge of NoSQL databases
- Experience with DevOps and DataOps practices: Git, CI/CD, containerization and orchestration (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes), Infrastructure as Code is a plus

QUALIFICATIONS

- Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset
- Ability to guide technical decisions and support the growth of team members
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken
- Analytical approach and strong problem-solving skills
