About CrankPal CrankPal is an innovative startup based in Milan, founded in 2026, that brings predictive maintenance, a practice born in aviation, to bicycles. It has two connected products:
• An app for cyclists, free on the App Store and Google Play since October 2026, that estimates how much life each component has left (chain, cassette, brake pads, rotors, tyres and dozens more) and expresses it as a range of kilometres. It combines rides recorded by the phone, Apple Watch, Strava, TrainingPeaks and the CrankPal Sensor wheel sensor with the workshop service history. CrankPal Pro, a monthly or annual subscription for CrankPal Sensor users with live telemetry and raw data, is coming soon.
• A management platform for bike workshops: bookings, customer and bike records, quotes, work orders, inventory, payments and invoicing, with a Free plan anyone can activate without a credit card, plus paid plans. The platform is available in 59 markets and 40 languages, and the app can be downloaded in more than 170 countries. CrankPages, our public directory of bike workshops, lists almost 60,000 workshops in more than 100 countries. The role This is CrankPal's first role dedicated to performance-driven growth. CrankPal is a two-sided marketplace and this role covers both sides, with separate metrics: acquiring and activating workshops on the management platform, and growing and activating cyclists in the app, which has just launched on the stores. The work is hands-on: you set up measurement, choose the channels, execute and own the numbers, with a media budget agreed with the CEO and reviewed every month. You report directly to the CEO.

What you'll do
Workshops (B2B)
• Self-service acquisition on the Free plan: search campaigns on high-intent queries ("bike workshop management software" and its equivalents in priority languages), plus Meta and LinkedIn where the audience can be reached at a sustainable cost.
• CrankPages as an acquisition engine: SEO across almost 60,000 workshop listings and conversion from listing claim to platform activation.
• Activation funnel from sign-up to first work order, testing onboarding, emails and in-app messages together with the product team.
• Market prioritisation: decide where to invest among the 59 markets based on observed acquisition cost and activation rate, not language coverage alone. Cyclists (B2C)

• Grow app installs on the App Store and Google Play, and the number of cyclists who actually use the app.
• ASO (App Store Optimization) in priority languages.
• Community channels (clubs, events, cycling creators, the Strava ecosystem) with tracked attribution.
• Funnel from install to first bike to first recorded ride, with activation and retention as primary metrics.
• Waitlist for CrankPal Sensor and CrankPal Pro ahead of their launch. Across both sides
• Measurement on CrankPal's first-party analytics: consistent UTM parameters, tracked short links, mobile attribution with Apple's SKAdNetwork and AdAttributionKit and Google Play Install Referrer, with no third-party tracking SDKs in the app and in line with the GDPR in every market we serve.
• A/B and incrementality tests sized for a seed-stage budget.
• One dashboard for both sides of the marketplace, weekly review, monthly forecast against budget.
• Campaign localisation in priority languages, with quality control. KPIs the role is measured on Workshops: Free plan sign-ups by market; activation rate (first work order within 14 days of sign-up); CrankPages listings claimed and their conversion to the platform; CAC per activated workshop; monthly active workshops; workshops upgrading to a paid plan. Cyclists: installs and store page conversion rate; activation (cyclists who add a bike and record their first ride); cost per install and per activated cyclist; monthly active cyclists and 30-day retention; CrankPal Sensor and CrankPal Pro waitlist sign-ups and cost per sign-up. Network: active cyclists per active workshop. What we're looking for
• 3 to 5 years in growth or performance marketing in freemium SaaS, consumer apps or two-sided marketplaces.
• Hands-on expertise with Google Ads, Meta Ads and Apple Search Ads.
• Technical and programmatic SEO on large page volumes.
• Web and mobile measurement at configuration level: events, UTMs, attribution with SKAdNetwork and Install Referrer; experience with GA4 and GTM is a good foundation.

• Advanced Excel or Google Sheets; enough SQL to read the data yourself.
• Statistics applied to testing: significance, power, sample size.
• Experience with multi-country, multilingual campaigns.
• Professional Italian and English; a third European language is a plus. Nice to have
• You ride, and you know the world of bike workshops.
• Experience launching a subscription app.
• Early-stage startup experience.
• Python or R for data analysis; generative AI for creative production and localisation. How you work
• You think in unit economics on both sides: what an active workshop is worth, what a cyclist is worth, how much you can spend to acquire them.
• You tell activity from results and correlation from causation.
• You're comfortable with limited budgets and no team under you: you pick the channel you can measure, not the one that gets noticed.
• You write short reports that lead to a decision. Contract and pay
• 6-month fixed-term employment contract, full-time, with the possibility of extension or conversion to a permanent contract.
• Fixed gross annual salary based on experience.
• Variable component of up to 40% of the fixed pay for the 6-month contract, tied to measurable objectives.
• Fully remote from any EU country; CrankPal is headquartered in Milan. How the variable component works 1. Written objectives: three to five, chosen from the KPIs above and split between the workshop side and the cyclist side, each with a weight, a baseline and a target. First-quarter objectives are set in the first two weeks, second-quarter objectives at the month 3 review. 2. Two reviews, at the end of month 3 and at the end of the contract: each is worth half of the variable component. 3. Proportional payout: below an objective's minimum threshold nothing accrues; between the threshold and the target it accrues proportionally; at the target it accrues in full. 4. Results are read from the same dashboard used in the weekly review, with definitions agreed together with the objectives. This role is open to people of every gender. CrankPal considers applications regardless of gender, age, origin, orientation, disability or any other personal characteristic. Application data is processed under Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) for recruitment purposes only.
