pbThis position is listed on behalf of a partner company, which manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Software Engineer (Edge – Devices Mobile) based in Italy. /b /p /brpWe are looking for an experienced Software Engineer with strong Rust expertise to help build and scale a sophisticated, cross-platform device infrastructure. In this role, you will develop and maintain a reliable peer runtime across Windows, Android, and Linux, with future expansion to macOS. You will work at the intersection of systems engineering, mobile platforms, networking, and distributed infrastructure. A key focus will be bringing advanced capabilities to mobile devices while ensuring seamless performance, security, and reliability across a globally distributed fleet. You will collaborate closely with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to solve complex technical challenges. This is an opportunity to take significant ownership of critical infrastructure, influence architectural decisions, and contribute to innovative large-scale data collection systems. /p /brh3Accountabilities: /h3 /brul /brliDesign, develop, and maintain a cross-platform Rust peer runtime supporting Windows, Android, and Linux, with future compatibility for macOS. /li /brliManage process lifecycles, background execution, networking, automatic updates, and operational stability across diverse and unmanaged hardware environments. /li /brliLead the expansion of the platform to Android devices using NDK and JNI, addressing foreground services, battery optimization, mobile network constraints, and integration with real and emulated device environments. /li /brliIntegrate native networking technologies, including Chromium's network stack (Cronet and C++), and browserless HTTP clients into well-structured, reliable Rust libraries. /li /brliWork with native operating system APIs and foreign function interfaces (FFI), ensuring safe memory management, ownership, and cross-language interoperability. /li /brliCollect and analyze hardware and operating system signals, including TCP, TLS, and HTTP fingerprints, to improve network realism and support collaboration with browser and anti-detection engineering teams. /li /brliDevelop comprehensive device-level observability and performance metrics, monitoring uptime, bandwidth consumption, device availability,

drop-off rates, and task success rates. /li /brliExpand peer capabilities to support additional workloads, including CAPTCHA solving and browser rendering, while maintaining strong security boundaries around untrusted content and environments. /li /brliParticipate in on-call rotations, investigate production incidents, conduct post-mortems, and implement improvements to system reliability and deployment processes. /li /brliContribute to technical documentation, architecture proposals, design reviews, and engineering standards, helping establish best practices for cross-platform Rust development. /li /br /ul /brh3Requirements: /h3 /brul /brliAt least 5 years of professional experience developing, shipping, and maintaining production-grade software using Rust. /li /brliProven experience building and deploying cross-platform Rust applications on at least two operating systems among Windows, macOS, and Android, including experience with at least one mobile platform. /li /brliStrong understanding of operating system internals, process management, permissions, background execution, and platform-specific constraints. /li /brliHands-on experience with FFI and integrating Rust with C/C++ libraries and native operating system APIs, including JNI/NDK, Win32, and POSIX interfaces. /li /brliSolid knowledge of networking protocols, particularly TCP, TLS, and HTTP, with the ability to inspect network traffic, understand protocol-level behavior, and analyze client fingerprint differences. /li /brliExperience with asynchronous programming and networking in Rust, ideally using technologies such as Tokio and Tonic. /li /brliStrong focus on software reliability, observability, performance monitoring, and production operations, including the ability to measure and troubleshoot distributed device fleets remotely. /li /brliGood understanding of secure software design, particularly when deploying and operating software on third-party devices and environments.

/li /brliExcellent written communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a globally distributed, remote-first engineering team. /li /brliStrong analytical and problem-solving abilities, combined with intellectual curiosity and an interest in reverse engineering, networking technologies, and complex systems. /li /brliFamiliarity with technologies such as gRPC, Protocol Buffers, mutual TLS (mTLS), Chromium networking, Kotlin, Java, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Kubernetes, and cloud infrastructure is advantageous. /li /br /ul /brh3Nice-to-have qualifications: /h3 /brul /brliExperience developing or operating residential proxy networks, peer-to-peer applications, or large-scale device farms. /li /brliKnowledge of browser internals and networking technologies such as Chromium, Cronet, Firefox networking, or anti-detection techniques. /li /brliBackground in distributed systems, particularly schedulers, orchestration platforms, control planes, and large-scale infrastructure. /li /brliFamiliarity with web scraping technologies and the technical challenges of collecting data from websites at scale. /li /brliContributions to open-source projects, particularly in the Rust, networking, or mobile development ecosystems. /li /br /ul /brh3Benefits: /h3 /brul /brliFully remote working environment, with the flexibility to work from wherever you are most productive. /li /brliFlexible working hours within a high-trust and supportive team culture. /li /brliOpportunity to join a self-motivated, progressive, and multicultural international engineering team. /li /brliAccess to cutting-edge open-source technologies, modern development tools, and advanced infrastructure. /li /brliOpportunities to attend industry conferences and connect with colleagues from around the world. /li /brliSignificant technical ownership and the opportunity to contribute to complex, large-scale engineering projects. /li /brliExposure to innovative technologies at the intersection of AI, networking, distributed systems, and web data collection. /li /brliA collaborative environment that encourages continuous learning, architectural research, and professional development. /li /br /ul /brpWe appreciate your interest and wish you the best! /p #J-18808-Ljbffr
