ReWind is developing a new generation of modular, fully recyclable wind turbine blades with a metal structure.
As Junior Loads
Engineer you will join our engineering team and work alongside senior engineers and external partners to calculate and assess the loads acting on our blades and turbine, from early concept to prototype, testing and certification. It is a hands-on role at the crossroads of aerodynamics, structural dynamics and control, ideal for a recent graduate with a background in wind energy or aerospace who wants to grow fast in a dynamic, innovative and international environment.
Responsibilities:
· Set up and run aeroelastic load simulations of the blade and turbine (e.g. OpenFAST, Bladed, HAWC2) according to the IEC 61400-1 design load cases.
· Build, update and validate the aeroelastic model of the blade (mass, stiffness and aerodynamic properties) together with the aerodynamics and structures teams.
· Post-process results to derive extreme and fatigue loads (load envelopes, rainflow counting, damage-equivalent loads) for all the wind turbine main components and identify the design-driving load cases.
· Perform comprehensive turbine aeroelastic analyses to deliver load inputs and ensure structural and dynamic stability throughout the design phase.
· Help compare simulation results with measurement data from lab and field tests of our prototypes.
· Develop Python/MATLAB scripts to automate simulation workflows and data processing.
· Contribute to technical reports and documentation for partners and certification bodies.
Requirements:
· Master’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical or Energy Engineering, Physics or a related field.
· 0–2 years of experience (Master’s thesis, internships and university projects count).
· Solid fundamentals of structural dynamics,
aerodynamics (BEM theory) and fatigue.
· Familiarity with at least one aeroelastic simulation tool (e.g. OpenFAST, Bladed, HAWC2), gained through thesis, internship or coursework.
· Good programming skills in Python and/or MATLAB.
· Analytical mindset, structured approach and attention to detail.
· Passion for renewable energy, curiosity and a hands-on attitude: you will also support prototype testing in the lab and in the field.
· Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams; fluent in English, written and spoken.
Nice to have:
· Knowledge of IEC 61400-1 and of the DNV standard for rotor blades (DNV-ST-0376).
· Experience with stability tools (e.g. HAWCStab2) or with the basics of wind turbine control.
· Basic FEM knowledge (e.g. Ansys, Abaqus, Nastran) and of fatigue in metallic structures and joints.
What we offer:
· A stimulating, innovative environment with real opportunities for professional growth.
· Continuous training and close mentoring by senior engineers.
· Competitive salary package and company benefits, including meal vouchers
· Hands-on work on real prototypes and tests, with a direct impact on the final product.
· A young, dynamic team focused on innovation and the energy transition.
· A team focused on sustainable future and the opportunity to make a real contribution to the environment
