Job Summary

PNO Innovation is looking for an experienced Innovation Consultant to join our growing Energy & Environment team in Italy.

You will advise leading industrial and energy companies on the development and funding of ambitious projects in industrial decarbonisation, clean energy, hydrogen, renewable energy, energy infrastructure, circular economy and low-carbon technologies.

This is a client-facing consulting role combining energy-market knowledge, strategic project development, European funding and excellent writing skills. You will work with technically and commercially complex projects and help turn innovative investment plans into compelling funding propositions.

Your Mission

Your mission will be to help major industrial and energy players accelerate their transition towards a low-carbon economy.

Working closely with clients, technical experts and partners across Europe, you will understand complex technologies and investment projects, identify the right funding strategy and translate them into strong applications for programmes such as the EU Innovation Fund,



Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) and other relevant European funding instruments.

You will act not simply as a proposal writer, but as a trusted innovation consultant, supporting clients from the initial project concept through funding and implementation.

Your Tasks

- Advise major industrial and energy clients on European funding and innovation strategies .
- Develop high-quality applications for the Innovation Fund, CEF and other European and national programmes .
- Analyse technologies, investment plans, business cases and decarbonisation potential to identify the strongest funding opportunities.
- Translate complex technical, financial and commercial information into clear and persuasive proposals.
- Coordinate proposal development from concept to submission, working with clients, engineers, financial teams and external partners.
- Facilitate client workshops and support consortium and partnership development.
- Support successful projects during implementation and build lasting relationships with clients.
- Contribute to business development by identifying new projects, funding opportunities and services within the energy market.

Your Profile

- Around 3–5 years of experience in EU funding, innovation consulting or R&D; project development.




- Proven experience independently writing and coordinating European funding proposals.
- Strong knowledge of Innovation Fund, LIFE, Horizon Europe, CEF and other European funding programmes.
- A degree in Engineering, Energy Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, Physics or a related discipline is preferred. Candidates with Policy, Innovation Management or similar backgrounds will also be considered.
- Experience working with industrial clients in areas such as industrial decarbonisation, energy systems, renewable energy, hydrogen, clean technologies, circular economy or climate technologies.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication and client-facing skills.
- Excellent written and spoken English (C1 minimum) and fluent Italian.
- Able to work independently while thriving in a collaborative, international environment.
